Not literally, I meant the hidden bonuses or whatever behind researching Chemistry. Everyone knows it gives access to gunpowder units/techs and it also makes you have fire arrows on projectiles and trebs/onagers throw rocks lit on fire while also adding a bonus +1 damage. I read somewhere and was told a few times that researching chemistry lowers your onagers rate of fire (meaning they fire slower after getting chemistry) but I always thought it was a myth.
I then decided to play a few games without chemistry on my onagers and I noticed that it did seem to be faster or at least the animation is faster. Of course, not getting chemistry hurts your archers, defensive buildings, ships and siege in terms of total damage, but I think if you were a civ like Celts or Aztecs and had no intent on using archers/ships in post imp, it would be beneficial to trade the +1 damage for your onagers to fire faster. Can anybody confirm or deny this claim? I can't be the only one who heard of this rumor/myth, right?
