I was recntly gifted AoF HD and started playing again. I played a singleplayer match on acropolis. I found that:
1.Since the starting hill has most of your hunting resources (ie; sheep, boar and deer); you don't have to scout much around your little island other than finding a good forest at the bottom to lumber later. So it'll be easier to scout and spot your enemy (and the enemy will have some of the black stuff around his/her base as well). All this points to?-> FORWARD. WITH TOWERS. WILL BE DEVASTATING
2.Huns aren't very much above any 2nd tier civs since they don't have good walling buildings. And they'll have to do some palisading to defend their base.
3.Advancing to Feudal earlier is best. If you have a good number advantage, it'll be easier to push them out of engagemnts since the enemy might have to split (and hence, due to little space, go down-hill). On the hill, its like a walkable forest map. Walls of trees. So I think ranged units are best.
4.You'll have to go down to chop wood before long. Maybe putting your second LC there is best?
And finally, a suggestion. I think we should start with a little bit of extra stone so we can build a tower and still build 2 TCs. We'd almost always need a tower on the forest at bottom. So maybe start with 225 stone on acropolis?
What are everyone else's impressions?
