Forgive me if this has been addressed already (and point me to the post so I can find out).
My current goal is to be a capable AOC player in the RM arena (of Voobly). I currently have been winning (at least with non-brand-new-noob or dropping allies) most of the time in the new player lobby, but have noticed that I stopped learning much from my opponents and recordings. I'll win 2 (me and one other) v3 matches, have mastered basic build order and economy, know the basics of counter units (monks vs. elephants are fun), etc...
To learn more, I believe I need to face much tougher competition that will stretch my abilities and guide me along. I especially acknowledge that my micro-game needs work.
So, the question is: How does one take this step? I've stepped into normal RM games a few times, but keep getting kicked because I'm a "zero-gamer". Is joining a clan a good way to go? Are there other ways?
As an aside, all the resources here and elsewhere are very helpful. Recorded games with (thank you ZeroEmpires) and without (thank you AOCzone) are awesome to watch. The articles are helpful. And the random people writing about what they learned are great.
But, to get better you can't just watch, you gotta play. So, what's the method to find good games to play to keep improving?
Any advice is appreciated.
