When to make conqus and wws on ara?

Especially for wws i have Zero idea when they could be useful. Even if your enemy pkt is aztec or Maya they're way too expansive to produce, and delay yourself way more than the usual 1 or 2 stable kts.Once you got them, they die easily vs kts, not just because of the cost, also because they're moving slower and attack slower, which makes it hard to Micro them.

Same goes for conqus, till you got a castle up, you could have done way more dmg with 1 or 2 stable kts.

Imho I would use conqs If you are spain pocket and you know your flank is ahead of his enemy or at least wont die in early castle age then conqs might be very useful especially if enemy pocket is going 1 stable kts. You just mass 5-6 conqs and hit and run kill any enemy kts. Also if you make +2 armor and bloodlines then ur conqs rape enemy flank xbows very well and few good hits and you can change the game for ur flank if he is losing his xbows war. When you mass like 10-15 conqs then no enemy kts army is basically issue for u coz u just add husbandry and hit and run kill any his kts/camels. Unless he is going like full castle age all in raid with kts and floods ur eco then u should be good. I remember few games where my enemy pocket went 1 stable kts miniboom into full kts in late castle and died completely vs hit and run massed conqs.

Going war wagons is more tricky I think. It needs more time and as you pointed out they are slow and not very mobile. But if your flank can play alone and survives some early raid and gives u time to like 19/20 minute then you can gain significant advantage because you dropped 3 tcs, you have wagons going from ur castle and if you use all the bs/archery range/university/stable upgrades and later add more castles then your wagons can be very strong and kill even +2 kts. You can play koreans kinda like mayans when u are going plumed archers. But it needs more time, its more risky and it needs much better teamplay with your flank. Again fully upgraded castle age war wagons can destroy enemy flank ranged units and can fight even vs kts. In this scenario its better though if your flank can go kts instead of u. Same thing usually with spanish - flank kts you conqs.

To sum it up I would go conqs (maybe wagons) if my flank is strong player who gains advantage over his enemy or gets nice wallable map and he got a good kts civ which he can use even as flank instead of going classic xbows.

SY_lyx went conqs almost all the matches on nations cup and I remember that he used to do FC, castle and conqs at once. His conqs raidings and engagements was really successful. At the final matches, Viper got husbandry really early to take care of that conq raiding.

Well, depending on the lag, conqs are practically invincible fighting other kts, with husbandry.

What do you think really puts conquistadors ahead in that situation? Is it their short fire delay, allowing them to fire while only standing still for less than a second? Is it their faster fire rate (15% faster than the average hand cannoneer)? Or is it their armour or speed?

Unless lag is high conquistadors dominate knights with some simple hit and run. High attack, good speed and short initial fire delay.. And the 2 armor helps too.
