I remember a couple of years ago when Voobly implemented the decay system it was suppose to be a motivational tool to keep higher rated players active and also a mechanism to allow newer players a chance to climb the ladder despite people's penchant for sitting on their high rating. And while these ideas were definitely good in theory and were probably even moderately effective for a period of time, I noticed recently people abusing the system in order to maintain a high rating that really isn't a true reflection of their skillset. Case in point: http://www.voobly.com/match/view/11488841 And just in case you think this was an anomaly, this was exactly 2-weeks prior (decay goes into effect every 2 weeks): http://www.voobly.com/match/view/11419776
Obviously Ra isn't the only person who's habitually cheated the system since its come into effect, he's just the most recent example of why the current decay system isn't accomplishing what it set out to do. Was just wondering if Voobly would take any steps to consider a more effective system which can root out people who just sign on their highest nick every 2-weeks and bash a 1500 to maintain their rate. In some ways, that's almost worse than just being inactive to begin with.
