If you have the latest 1.4 release candidate installed, then please make sure their recs are inside your "SaveGame" folder before double-clicking the rec files. The release candidate was updated a few days ago, so if you had a previous installation, please redownload and update.
StepS, yes, but only for double-click-rec-loading from Windows Explorer/My Computer, etc. Once in-game, rec loading is still version restricted. In 1.4 mode, you can watch all 1.4 recs, 1.3 compatibility mode can watch 1.3 recs, and enhanced 1.0c mode can watch 1.0c recs. There are shortcuts in the "Age of Empires II\Support" folder to launch the game in 1.3 and 1.0c modes, but double-click loading is a lot easier, since players don't have to worry about which version a rec came from.
Hi Apollo! That would require changing game data/balance (empires2_x1_p1.dat, etc.), which is outside the scope of this update and must be made by a mod or expansion like Forgotten Empires, etc.
I think I've figured out why some units in 1.4 RC act in a 'weird' way as many players have stated.
I was playing a game and during some scout micro I noticed that when you switch their mode from attacking to stand-ground repeatedly and quickly, the mode switches to stand-ground immediately but it automatically goes back to attacking mode for a period of 200-500 ms before going back to stand-ground. It happens something like this:
Oh, that's always been the case in 1.0c and earlier, as well. It's due to the fact that unit stance changes, like all commands that affect units, must be sent across the network in multiplayer games in order to synchronize the simulation. In single player mode, these stance changes can take effect immediately, but in multiplayer, the commands are queued for execution on the next sync'ed game turn. Thanks for feedback!
hi idk why it isnt working becouse i go into age of empires 2 folder and theres another age2_x1 folder where do i extract SetupAoC.exe and after i do that what do i do???? (its so god damn complicated for me to understand)
Hi! For some reason I don't see the list of supported resolutions in game options in the standalone 1.4 version you gave me and the game doesn't completely go full screen.
Oh, if you don't see the resolution list, and you're on Windows 8, you may need to right-click the exe, go to properties, and set it to compatibility for Windows 7 or earlier.
Shouldnt this be moved to the downloads section? One guy had confusion locating this, and i got this from "scripter's topics" through aoczone function.
hey scripter, is it possible to change the patrol system back to aoc style? seems to be some complaints about that. or if it's possible to fix the aoc patrolling system :P
Hey, this User Patch is really great :D
but I'm having some problems installing it:
I installed it following the instructions carefully, however when I try to start up the game, by just clicking the .exe file or by trying to watch a rec directly, a error box with no words but the "ok" to click pops up...
I've no idea what i could be doing wrong.
Hi! A few questions:
- Did you have v1.0b/v1.0c/v1.0e installed first? (this is required)
- If so, have you downloaded any language or data file mods?
- Do you have a "Games" folder in the "Age of Empires II" folder? (not required)
- If so, is there an "age2_x1.xml" file inside there?
Hi,
I followed the steps as they were listed on your first post. I cannot play some rec games for some reason. I get this error message: "An error occured while trying to play the game". Can you help me, please?
i have a problem:
When i use UP, my mouse has tendency to lag, its very difficult to control. Can you advice me something to solve this matter?
Thank you very much
