Ok, I will try this. Thank you for your explanation, really helps out =)When i installed the patch for the first time I had the same problem, the game was still running the 1.0c version.I unfortunately cannot seem to use this patch. When I install it on my computer (I have the right version of AoC and 1.0c installed) it says that it was patched successfully, but nothing has changed and it bugged my AoFE. When I load up my normal AoC and play a game, there is a pink/purple line under the resource bar and it instantly crashes the game. I have tried rebooting, re-installing and a lot more, but it doesn't seem to help. Now I've un-installed the patch, but I still can't play AoC. I've also deleted the SetupAoC.exe from my computer, so that can't be the problem either. Any help or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I've uninstalled the game(from local disc C), erased all the data then installed it again (in local disc D, in a "microsoft games" new folder), ran the 1.0c patch, copied the 1.0c crack, than installed the 1.2 patch and ***** wood also and now it works just fine! I have a laptop with win7 64 bit operating system installed, I've tested it with a couple of friends on GR, probably works just fine on voobly as well.
One last thing, a friend of mine couldn't make it work the first time so he downloaded the patch again and re-installed it checking all the boxes, and afterwords it worked, so don't give up!
Doesn't work for me, says it can't access the file or something like that, while the application is closed, so that's a bit odd. Help? Unless this is an April Bools, obviously.I have made a small NoCD Patch. Which makes it possible to play without CD/Image.
Note:
- Works only with the patched age2_x1 executable file by UserPatch.
- Should works with any future version of UserPatch.

^^ Try to go to your "age2_x1" folder and rename [c]wndmode.dll[/c] to something else.the game always start in window mode, i have to start to play and then do alt+tab in order to switch to full screen, there is no other way? is kinda annoying

Because it is a better solution? The window mode removes the unnecessary resolution switching from menu default of 800x600 to the selected in-game resolution upon game start/end (also makes showing the TC at game start faster), while it also seems more convenient to switch among your running applications while not playing the game (no need to alt+tab because the game is in window).
While playing, if you selected your desktop resolution as the in-game resolution, it should go full screen and there should be no difference between the windowed and not windowed mode game. Are there any problems you are experiencing with windowed mode, like not going full screen automatically (even though you selected your desktop resolution in-game)?
Hm, that taskbar on top sounds like an issue... I also have the "regular" taskbar (no auto hide, Windows 7 x64), but the game switches to full-screen without a problem (taskbar doesn`t stay on top).the game is switching to my desktop resolution, but while i'm playing the windows task bar remains on top and i need to do alt+tab in order to "remove it" (probably because i use the task bar locked, i don't like the auto-hide feauture of windows).
I must say as a long time AoK player when I first moved to AoC I hated the patrol system but now I much prefer the AoC patrol system I'm not really sure AoK patrol style is an improvement at all.

Hi mandrake! Windowed mode support is just an option on the installer (a checkbox). If you'd like to use standard fullscreen, just run the installer again, uncheck the box and click Install again to update. If you've already removed/renamed wndmode.dll, don't worry about this. Please see the Features section of the guide (the included Readme.html) for information about what each checkbox does.
As for the taskbar problem, what version of windows, what desktop resolution, and what in-game resolution? Are you selecting exactly the same resolution in-game as your current desktop resolution? Does it happen on single-player mode, built-in multiplayer mode, or something else like GameRanger?
My taskbar is also locked, always-on-top, and non-auto-hide just like your setup, and, like BugA, everything seems normal (I'm on Win7 x64 SP1). If your resolutions match, then it might just be an app running in the background that is bringing the taskbar to the front. If standard fullscreen is more reliable for you, then don't worry about it, though lol. Sorry for the trouble.
I did that, but it still gives me that message. It works! Try to place the NoCD Patch in the same folder as the age2_x1 file is and press Patch button.

And for me the resolution switch is no problem, is done by the GPU. Those who have a delay in the game start is because the monitor is handling the resolution switch.
