+1I can't know about all the community for sure. BUT, Voobly keep the AoC alive for my side.
Well said!Voobly and IGZ's challenge was always to become large enough to justify the continued investment.ZeroEmpires said:The same can be said for Voobly, they want to centralize everything to them too; Streaming, Gaming, you name it. Always with the argument that: Oh if we split the community it's bad for everyone. Well no, it isn't bad, in fact it's good to compete it's when we work our hardest and do our best. Why would anybody try to improve their service at all when they have 100% market share? Well they wouldn't, they would capitalize on it and take advantage of the fact.

For this, we need the communities support. We don't have 100% market share and we never will. Voobly doesn't even have close to 50% market share once you consider all the other places to play AOC.
Furthermore taking single player's on Steam into account we're a small fraction of the market share.
Voobly doesn't get paid for players when they get the game, unlike Steam. We don't have a diverse game base unlike GR, who can spread the dev cost over many games.
Voobly is almost exclusively AOC based and with Premium memberships down sharply , and Game Room client ads making extremely low income (many players are from geographies w/ low rates).
Without growth, we can't afford to invest in areas we would like to, Voobly is in effect millions of dollars in the red (if you count opportunity cost of development). Tournaments like the announced 50K one are great for the community-- but in reality that alone exceeds the current revenue from Voobly and IGZ since inception.
GR has clearly barely spent anytime in relation to what Voobly has for AoC (weeks vs. years), so the attitude of lets support all clients equally is particularly frustrating! Support for the steam port is like-wise frustrating, given they've made almost certainly millions of dollars for something half-baked after previously abandoning the game (likely made >100x what Voobly has made).
Bottom line: The only way we'll be able to justify continued investment in large features is growth or expectation of growth in the user-base. For those that want to see many large feature improvements the best thing to do is to start helping rally players around Voobly i.e. The more support Voobly has the more we can provide in improvements.
