You are wrong. It is possible. Although some pros hide their match history to hide their prep. Lot of players in the top have match history open. For instance, beastyqt, hera , leenock, szalami, etc have always had match history open.Obviously it's going to take a while, since it's not possible to download top player recs to further learning/BOs like in aoe2. One of the reasons I've not bought age4 yet.
How long does this match history go, and how could I find tournament recs? Say, Genesis or such. If I've understood correctly, they're also only accessible ingame through player search or such, not via eg. leaderboard, is this still so? (inquired about this several months ago in aoe4 reddit and it was the only answer I got... also several months after I actually asked and still had the game)You are wrong. It is possible. Loading rec files is not possible yet. You can look up player profile ingame and find latest games. Regarding genesis recs etc, it is not possible to replay them. Just like aoe2 player profile recs available online, you can access the last 15-20 games of the player, sometimes lesser... Obviously, at some point, aoe4 will have support for viewing rec files but its not even there in the spring roadmap... so its gonna take a while. How long does this match history go, and how could I find tournament recs? Sort of sad if tournament has players hiding their matches vs'ing each other so there's no recs of tournament games anywhere.
The same deja vu gonna happen, Liereyy will get clapped. But, I am not sure if the tourney had enough sign ups or not. If it had enough signups for quals, why do they need to invite a player directly to main event.
This comes back to the previous stage of AoE2 where Spring and some other people complained that there are no qualifiers for big events. Only direct invites. These two will still grab the opportunity of 2 players from qualifiers. High level nepotism.
This is just one of my all time favourites so I had to reply.
1. Inviting Liereyy into the Main Event TAKES AWAY a player from the qualifiers, so if we didn't have enough sign-ups it's the opposite of what we'd do.
2. We've had far, far more sign-ups than places.
3. "People complained that there are no qualifiers for big events. Only direct invites". Lol we have a maximum of 4 invites from 64 places (and likely to remain at only 2). For an S-Tier AOE tournament that's very on the low end.
4. "High level nepotism." My invite to Liereyy was the fist time I've ever spoken to him. If I'm making invites based on nepotism, I'm doing a horrible job of it.
That's not what "nepotism" is. He was about as clear cut an example of a tournament invite as you'll ever see. You're inviting him for his name, not because of his skill. Pretty sure that is what they were talking about.

I mean he never hides that."Our criteria for invitational spots is a combination of RTS track record, audience interest, reasonable chance of good performance, and compelling reason to not otherwise automatically qualify.

That's fair. Generally I don't like invites and we do very few of them. We kept 4/64 open in case there were special cases (other RTS players deciding late to switch and grind). I understand the criticism more when it's say 25%+ of players being auto invited, thus not leaving room for turnover or new players to break through. But I think this event has a very open qualification system.Yes, I understand that. You seemed to have missed their point however because you were fixated on whether it was actually nepotism or not. Their point was that Larry is being invited because of his name, not because of his skill, which has been a complaint in aoe2 events over the years where the same players get invited to big events because they have a following and other players who are potentially more skilled/as skilled don't get an invite and have to qualify.
Did you just assume Larrys race? He could be a 35yo black man.White privilege

Pretty sure they are putting the majority of the tournament money in themselves, not from Microsoft. As far as I know (from other threads but happy to be corrected) Microsoft is only sponsoring 50-60k.No offense, EGC is just coming from nowhere and I don't know why they can get so much funding?
Honestly all the production of their tournaments seem pretty bad to me, low resolutions, game delayed sometimes, pretty ugly graphic, no overlay, sometimes couldn't hear the voice from casters.
Microsoft also didn't end up sponsoring Genesis unless I missed something, so they also funded that $20k prize pool themselvesNo offense, EGC is just coming from nowhere and I don't know why they can get so much funding?

We're a business. We put up cash (risk) in hope of attracting enough sponsorship to turn profit (reward). No offense, EGC is just coming from nowhere and I don't know why they can get so much funding?

Respect that. Hopefully golden league will go well and if you can get to 80% of N4C production level that will be a success for me.We're a business. We put up cash (risk) in hope of attracting enough sponsorship to turn profit (reward).
Are you not worried to catch a falling knife? Nili lost quite a bit of money on N4C. Furthermore the player numbers are still dropping sharply without any sign of a consolidation. We're a business. We put up cash (risk) in hope of attracting enough sponsorship to turn profit (reward).
Please take your nili/aoe2 vs aoe4 bs to the other threads. In how many threads do you want to talk about nili? Are you not worried to catch a falling knife? Nili lost quite a bit of money on N4C. Furthermore the player numbers are still dropping sharply without any sign of a consolidation.
