At first I was not really into Empire Wars settings. It was interesting to skip dark age and jump right into action, also RBW 1 was a very nice event, but it never felt like “home” settings. Everybody enjoyed that weekend but it was like “okay was nice event, but lets go back to RM”.
Then RBW 2 happened. People started to enjoy it little bit more. It was all action and it was never “standard”. Again everybody enjoyed it but general consensus was still “ lets just go back to RM till next EW tournament”.
And RBW 3. I have no words to describe how much I enjoyed this event. From qualifiers to finals. It was all action every single minute, different picks, different strategies and so unpredictable. Now I feel like most of the RM games are like a ”netflix movie” with an 20 minutes ‘skip’ intro to 10 minutes action. And most of the time its a cliche movie. Player A opens man at arms, other open scouts, A adds one range archers and fletching, other adds skirms, player A adds stable...
Of course those are just my personal opinion, maybe most people still enjoy Rm much more ( I was thinking like that 2 weeks ago ), but I was watching some streams earlier and saw some other people think like me and wanted to share my opinions. If some pros play RM and others play EW, im definitely watching the EW game. It just feels like there is so much room to enjoy there.
