Ok, congrats for this HC4, as a great fan of AoE2 - and having watched AoE2 longer than actually playing it - I have to say it was some great, great work from the HC4 team and that they deserver everything up until..... game 4 from the set Sundjata vs. Admiral. This is where we first figure out: "OK, something might be pretty wrong here..." but Sundjata won that game, so it is fine. Now, what happened that showed how ridiculous this situation can be is the set that follows this one: Ivaylo vs John the Fearless.
What am I complaining about? The map picks, on the settings. There should be no way that this happens in a tournament, this goes beyond the "playing finals immediately after semi-finals" thing. This is a whole different story, there should be no way that something like this happens in a tournament. John the Fearless won 4-3 after being down 2-0 and 3-2, and we will never find out why that happened.
There are reasons why home maps exist, and there should also be reasons so that one player doesn't get 3 home maps while the other gets only one. Congrats to John the Fearless, he really did well on the maps that should've been from his opponent, but thanks to the horrible lack of foresight from the administration team, we get a horrible situation that could've still been a John the Fearless win.
But unfortunately this makes it completely unfair for the players playing the game, and not some regular showmatch, but yes a tournament where this horrible mistake might have cost someone 5000$ or even 12000$. We shall never know. Therefore, my fellows AoEZone Drama people, I ask you to boycott the administration from the tournament while we do not hear a sincere apology from the admin team, because this doesn't just compromise one player or the other; being this a public event with thousands of people watching, this becomes something the viewers start to engage in (being that one of the footholds of the tournament).
Congrats to John the Fearless, though, for your win in the set, and I hope you prove yourself worth of winning a final that I (and I hope thousands of other people) won't join to watch.
