MaSmOrRa - Today I had the pleasure to talk a little bit with Dominik Tomanek, who is better known by the Community as Lojza. He belongs to the very young generation of AoC Experts, having just turned 18 last February. We all know he's from Czech Republic, but we don't know where exactly do you live Dominik?
(czech) Lojza - I live in a very small town in the South called Drnovice. It has around 350 inhabitants...
- What the f***?! LOL Sounds like there's not much to do around there...
(czech) - Well, we have a Tennis Court and a place to play Football...but that's pretty much it! 11
- I have been more than once to Czech Republic and each time I was totally shocked by the beauty of the women around there...On a Town with 350 people, I would suppose you know every single girl in there? :P
(czech) - Yeah I do...But if you walk around the street you are much more likely to run into a Grandma instead of a Teenager 11
LLLLLLOOOOLLL! Yeah I know the feeling man, we have the same problem in Portugal...So if you're only 18, do you still go to school?
(czech) - Yes, I have one more year to go.
- Are you planning to go to University after you finished school?
(czech) - Yes, I want to study Law.
Oh wow...I would suppose you need to have very good grades at School to be able to study Law?
(czech) - My grades are fine I would say. However, the Educational System here is very messed up at the moment. If you want to go to the University, you have to do these Entrance Tests (which are not really hard) and if you pass them, it doesn't matter at all which grades you had at School. I will most likely move to Prague then.
- Fantastic city...Do you think it will be a big shock for you to move from a Town with 350 people to another with over 1 million?
(czech) - It will be interesting I'm sure... Both my sisters (29 and 30 years old) live there, so I hope they will help me!
- You mentioned Tennis and Football before, are those your main Hobby's?
(czech) - Yes I play Tennis and Football, but I also read a lot. And yes...at Weekends I like to drink too! :P
- About that...When we announced you as one of the players on TEL#3, Fayt said something like: "if Lojza stops being an alcoholic, he can easily be number 1" What do you have to say about that?
(czech) - Well, I only drink after AoC, never before...:P But if in a few Years I'm 16xx then alcohol will probably be the reason for it! :D
- About Football...Messi or Ronaldo? Please think before you answer, you know I'm Portuguese...
(czech) - Sorry bro...Messi all the way! :P
- Omfg...you suck you know that?!
(czech) - Please...:P
- Anyway...Tell me about AoC. Most of the Experts in this game are a bit older than you, how did a young guy such as you found out about AoC in the first place?
(czech) - When I was around 12 or 13 (I can't remember exactly) some big older boys started playing it. They didn't allow me to join them because I was too small. However, someday I found a Czech Site about AoC where I learned some common strategies and I started to beat those guys, which obviously made them very angry!
Later on, I started to play on Hamachi where I stayed for about 2 years because my parents didn't want people to find out our IP Adress...:P
After that I played about 3 months on igzone and later on Voobly.
- And when did you start to play a lot and improve?
(czech) - When I was about 15, I became 18xx and a few months later I made it to 2k+. Since then, I've been trying to become a more "complete" player by learning Water maps for example, which I learned just before The Medieval Wars 11
- Before that you were more of an Arabia/Arena player, right?
(czech) - Yes...I didn't play anything else! :P
- You were definitely not the only player to go that path...I mean first becoming very good on Arabia and then moving to Water Maps. Do you think that's the best way to become good at this game?
(czech) - No, not at all. Look at Viper, he started on Full Random maps...So I don't think it matters.
- Tell me about Clash of the Titans. You surprised the whole Community by reaching the Final stage of that huge Tournament. To do so, you had to beat people like Dogao, LoveCheng, Yellow, etc. Were you surprised yourself about it?
(czech) - Oh yes...I was just as surprised as the whole Community! :P
- Do you feel like you play better on Tournament games? Because even on your first game on TEL#3 with F1Re, at a certain point the result was 2-2 and you had a big advantage on game 5 which then you lost. It could have been a 3-2 for you there which again would surprise many people...
(czech) - I wouldn't say I play better on Tournament games, but I enjoy to play them a lot. When you play rated games, you play hundreds of games but none of them really matters since it's only for points. On tournaments, you only play a few games but all of those matter. So I really enjoy that atmosphere.
- Don't you get nervous on Tournament games as some other players?
(czech) - No...That's not my case I would say.
- You are one of the few Experts who plays lots of Team Games, many other prefer to stick to 1vs1's. Do you think it helps your 1vs1 skill or you just play them because you enjoy them?
(czech) - After playing mostly Team Games for about 2 Months, on my first 1vs1 after it I was feeling like I couldn't play this game anymore...So I would say it actually decreases your 1vs1 skills. But I play Team Games because I enjoy it a lot playing with my friends while we are on Team Speak.
- Last question: I'm one the guys managing the Sign Ups for the Nations Cup. Each time I go check for new applications I have this hope of seeing the Czech application with Lozja and Skull in it...Any chance I'm going to get lucky in the next few days?
(czech) - There are still 10 days left...But yes you most definitely will get an application from us very soon!
- Thank you so much Dominik, I had a great time!
(czech) - Thank you too, was very enjoyable!
