Dear Community,
Since TEC was announced we've been bombarded with suggestions and ideas to slightly alter the Rules & Settings to make the event better for everyone. We have been thinking very carefully about what to do and have made the following decisions based on what we want for the event: To make it appeal to players and viewers equally, as well as making sure that Season 1 is the best and highest profile it can be. You can still sign up here.
Update 1: Balance Tweaker will not be used for Season 1. With that said we also won't be replacing it either; the games will be played on vanilla AoC.
The poll was very close between those that voted for and against the Balance Tweaker (56-44) and this was a really tough decision to go against the majority. The reason for this is because we want the best players to sign up as possible in order to kick our project off in the best possible way, balance patches are a very polarizing topic and although we would like to see them in future seasons of TEC this time around it simply doesn't make so much sense. We have made a settings change that will keep things interesting however, so do not worry! In future we will be using Carlos' patch instead of Balance Tweaker, and attempting to merge the two projects into one, for the greater good.
Update 2: Game 2 in the set has been changed to: Game 2: Loser Home Map (Hidden Civs (Players can only choose a civ once for the entire event) - No Bans)
We think that this should give us some great non-mirror matches where players take calculated risks with their civs. Since it's also the Losers Home map it should give the loser a larger advantage too.
Another nice thing about this setting is that it will get players to think strategically and plan which civ they will use to face what player, and look at other players and what civs they have already used!
That should be it for changes now, we hope you're happy with the direction we're taking and understand our reasoning for the decisions. The prize pool is currently at over $2500 so sign up now! Click Here.
If you still want to support the event so we can reach our Kickstarter goal: Click Here.
Thanks,
Zak.
Edit: seems a couple more people have signed up straight away which is great!
