Hey guys,
Okay firstly I just wanna say that I do not mean any offense towards Chinese community, and that I have a lot of respect for many of their players.
The thing is, I was watching China against Finland this afternoon. I was actually working at the same time, and checking from time to time the score. And the thing is, this score was changing like 1 time in 2 hours 11. I mean, at the moment I'm writing this, it's been 5 hours since they've started playing, and only 4 games have been played.
One of the points of twitch, is to promote AoC for players who have no idea about this game, or who don't know the game is still played. So I wonder, is it really good to stream those games? I mean, let's say somebody who has never heard about AoC, watches this stream, he'll see the lag, he'll see the 1 hour between the games, you really think he will be interested by the game afterwards?
An other factor is that this waiting time, will bore many people who'll just leave the stream, so the number of viewers will stay low, I mean currently we've got 550 viewers for the RR, that's just so disappointing. I really believe we could have already 100-200 more without this, which means AoC could have a bit more chances to be watched by players who discover this game.
Also this is not something uncommon, I mean every time I'm watching a stream with Chinese players involved you can bet that it'll last about 2-3 hours more than it would have lasted with players from other countries.
So I wonder, is there really no way to stop this problem with Chinese players? I do not think playing against them provides any good for any one, it is boring for the commentators who must wait hours, it is boring for the viewers who must wait hours, it is boring for the players who must play with the lag...
A way to solve this problem, could be to stream these games once they've been played, you just stream the recorded games, but people could just spoil others on the results, so it wouldn't be that good added to the fact it wouldn't be "live games", so that it'd be a bit less interesting. But, I really believe that AoC can't grow up if you don't change this lag, between Chinese and others, I mean what kind of new players would want a game with a 3 seconds reaction between the time he asks his villager to go somewhere and the time this villager actually goes. What kind of player who has no idea about AoC will watch a 5 hours streams for only 4 games?
