Hi, I though of some changes to the balance and I would like to know the community feedback, their cons and why they would be bad ideas.
1- Relative to missionaries:
I though that making them a regional or common unit instead of an unique unit would make sense. Making them:
Regional unit or even common unit
Can't convert military
Sightly faster healing than a monk
Sightly faster eco conversions than a monk
Can't take relics
This way they may have an use healing and complementing cavalry armies. And a lot of clown potential to harass villagers.
The Spanish bonus could change from being able to produce missionaries to missionaries can convert military.
2- Spanish building speed.
I think changing the spanish bonus to building speed; except for TCs, castles and towers; 200% (or even 300%) faster would make sense.
They would lose their OP nomad start, and some of their early castle age spike (tc and castles speed).
Would give a small bonus to their dark age (still much weaker than most early eco bonuses), with 3 houses, mill, barrack and lumber-mill they would save sightly less resources than the cost of 1 villager, or around it, I made the math long back, not sure if I remember correctly, but wasn't much.
3- New civ bonus
Would make sense to give to 1 civ: Militia line can gather certain resources at a reduced rate?
I was thinking about koreans or a new civ. Militia can collect wood, gold and stone at 50% the rate of a villager? not affected by techs
They cost 80 resources including gold, and gathering slower would make them a huge investment, but would protect from enemy rushes and after a drush, surviving militias can go back home to work. I think is weaker than any free villagers, or gathering bonuses other civs have.
I like that it may change build orders and make infantry more common.
4- Burgundian button.
I don't like it, but assuming it will stay in the game: making it that the research time, or part of it, stops all villagers and give them a timer over their heads? so they are vulnerable while researching and the enemy can scout what is coming. If not during the research time, a few seconds after completion.
5- Genitour.
Make mounted skirmishes available for more civs and give berbers an unique upgrade (genitour) or an unique bonus.
Opinions?
