Pros and casters will move when the tournament money does. Players will follow. Until then you've got folks who make a living/decent supplemental income off the game trying to make a living off of the game -- and right now, so long as Microsoft remains interested and pays for a few tourneys -- it'll stay that way. Casters who depend on subscriptions want to capitalize on the ability to grow and cultivate a growing audience -- perhaps to remain in AoE, go elsewhere -- or to springboard to AoE4 -- who knows. Good luck selling them going back to the usual when sales/viewers associated w/ DE keep rising, even if buggy af. Too much inertia.
There will be lip service about dedicated servers, how much fun playing the new version is, the QoL upgrades, graphics, "hope," and "promise," of improvement, but at the end of the day it's more about market capture and the almighty dollar.
I cannot understand. How can people say the base game is good when melee pathing is so bad???
