Hi everyone,
Straight to the point :
In Feudal Age :
I read some time ago a discussion about numbers of vills for every resource, between Ares (aka geen) and some other player, ( I think it was FeAge or Whack but not sure). They were talking about the number of vills one needs on gold, for nonstop archers with 2 ranges. Based on that discussion i started to really detail recorded games ,how experts try to balance their ecos with fixed numers for some resources. This is what I have noticed about SOME of my favourite players.
Chris :
I have noticed that lately he uses (with two ranges at min 14-15) around 12 - 13 on wood, and 7-9 on gold , depending on how aggressive he plays, trying to get castle age with around 12-13 farms. I feel that this eco is pretty safe and versatile, because one can always try another thing if first plan doesnt works (lets say, you try to go castle around min 21, but enemy comes with full feudal army, one can switch to full feudal without much trouble).
The_Viper:
His openings are way more risky than any other player I have seen. For example, his economy in feudal is almost always based on a fixed 10 vill wood, (with two ranges at min 14-15) maybe 11 at some point , and 8 or 9 on gold. It allows him to go really fast to castle, even with hard fights on feudal. Some games are just beautiful because that fragile balance he uses 11.
In Castle Age:
I have not put so much detailed attetion to numbers in castle age, but I will try to make the same exercise as above in the next days. Some personal experience is that I really feel for fc as a pocket, 28+2 opening works better than any other, it gives you a pretty solid eco, even without deers, and you get enough time to make the 2 buildings needed for castling, with that sweet 13:45 click, and allows you to get at least one tc right away once in castle. Then, in min 22 or around I try to balance my eco for never have more than 17 on wood, and investing all on gold and food. Have worked really nice for me, but what you guys think?
