the game would become very mechanical IMO, I would prefer instead if the 8 starting sheep were close to TC like in AOK and the boars close too, so they are harder to steal
When you see a game in SC2 you see almost the same strategy every time, the best BO have an advantage and some positioning mix into the recipe, and from there the apm fest, different to BW, where you see some things different. In AoC where the speed of the game is so slow, it could be the most boring tournament ever.

thats not true. They also play different strats on Sc2. It just like some strats are played more then other. But same with AOC.
Depending on map there is always one Strat played most.
UNtil now most posts(pro or contr) are just unproofed thoughts.
I think we should give it at least a try to see how it works.
Even if it's just a small tournament without price, i think there will be enought paticipants to see some nice(or worse) results.^^

I didn't try it myself, but it might actually be possible with that.
As to the question of premade, mirrored maps: I personally don't want to see that. It would just go one step further in the direction of an apm battle rather than strategic decisions, because the best strategy for a fixed map will be quickly determined.

I watch a lot SC2, sorry but it is a very static game right now, the only new strategy in the last months is roaches , then borrow, followed by hydras + roaches (zerg), this has produced a big decreasing in viewers numbers, events that used to bring near to 100k, are now in the 40k numbers, even BW amateur tornaments have more viewers (Koreans). SC is a very different game compared to AoC, and the slow pace of the last one is compensated by the strategic decisions that you have to take about the random map, I would prefer to see a turbo speed tournament.

Looks really useful! I had wanted to write a little program to generate mirrored maps a while ago, but didn't know about tools like this. I don't have time currently, but it shouldn't be too hard if you have access to read+write on every map coordinate. I don't think it's going to change aoc much at all, but it could be fun.
Without reading all the posts i would like to bring up one issue, would starting food be fixed positions aswell (like starcraft)? If so, would laming be allowed? Considering the boars will always be in the same spots it wouldn't be hard to find your enemies boars/sheep. This isn't an issue in starcraft obviously since all the resources are static .
I just meant someone should make it 11 Don't think it exists atm@Gentle: you mentioned this "MirrorTool". I remember I posted an idea about a year ago and this tool sounds like the tool I couldn't find back then. Think a "double-mirror" or point reflection could be done with it?
randomized "surprising/different" maps are kind of game type of aoc
