(Explanation of the title: Gradualism = slow constant change over time, Saltationism = short moments of big changes followed by longer periods of no change)
A few days ago I felt like I was suddenly improving a lot, while my level was the same for a while previously. I started thinking about this and I know that it happened at least two more times that I 'suddenly' (over the course of a few games) improved a lot, after having the same level and rating for a long time.
I was actually interested if anyone has had the same (in aoe2 or maybe already aoe4), or if people are more improving gradually over time? And if you are improving in 'jumps', do you have any idea what changed that caused you to play better? I think my first jump was related to realizing that if I have to many res and I am not pop capped, I have to keep adding production buildings.
