So here is the first RGA of an expert game. I myself am not as high rated as these guys but I will try to make a decent understanding of how this game is played.
To start off, I will rate this game as an 8 as the rating system is slightly ambigious. The teams are even, however I don't think there are any amazing moments in it, but there are some highlights to it and it is still a game worth watching with lots of fights.
The game is 2v2 meso v meso, and as you might expect, all 4 players go drush. Chris (aztecs) and Riut (aztecs) are against each other, they both go standard 5 militia to m@a upgrade to fc xbows. Ruso (mayans) and Jordan (mayans) are against each other, Jordan goes 3 miltia to Feudal fast, whereas Ruso masses 7 (I think) to try really damage Jordan's eco.
Rather than waste time walking around Jordan's base, Ruso attacks Jordan's barracks forcing him to waste villager time repairing, however when Ruso walks away to try stop archery ranges Jordan sneaks out his militia with an extra one totalling 4 whilst upgrading them to m@a. Ruso hasn't walled his base (which I'm unsure of why not as there is not too much to wall and also proves to be devastating) leaving Jordan to annoy Ruso's economy, however Ruso quickly walls his wood villagers and sends back his own militia upgrading to m@a and using towers to defend against Jordan's army.
I think with Ruso making so many militia, he could have attempted to try going into Jordan's eco from a different entrance and walled himself to prevent any attack, even with m@a upgrades Ruso would win with his militia number. Chris also takes a big risk by trying to break in at Riut's base as there is no guarantee Riut won't rewall and he could have done if he was fast enough I think, if it hadn't been successful, Ruso would have been 2v1 whilst Chris wasn't doing any damage.
However, on the other side both Chris and Riut have walled against each others drushes, Riut proceeds to send his m@a to Ruso and hits him from behind whilst Jordan is distracting him at the front, fortunately due to the nature of playing mayans (mining stone to go plume in castle), Ruso has stone to defend against Riut's army with a second tower.
Riut makes the mistake of keeping his m@a idle for a bit in Ruso's base, however he is distracted by Chris, but if he managed to attack Ruso's second tower faster with his m@a he might have been able to stop the villagers building it, or at least killed a few more
In Riut's base, Chris sees an opportunity to break through Riut's wall with his m@a and does so successfully. Riut is defenceless as Chris stops Riut's second archery being built, with enough time to damage Riut's eco before enough archers can defend, Chris kills a few wood villagers and stops the rest from being able to gather at the lumber camp, they are forced to chop stragglers at a safe distance, Riut is able to finish his 2nd range and mass enough archers to kill the m@a before they can go damage his gold, Chris however hasn't had his archer production slowed down.
Even though Chris could have run his m@a to try and save them and do damage elsewhere, he does as much maximum damage as he can see immediately whilst sacrificing his army, the choice to hinder Riut's range production shows the benefits very soon. This shows that you should sacrifice units to do damage greater than the value of your units even if there is the potential to do more damage because it is immediate and definite.
Back to Jordan, he suspects Chris will hit him so he sends his archers to defend his gold and stone until he makes a tower to defend. Due to how both Ruso and Riut have been damaged, Jordan takes his army to attack Chris to give Riut time to recover, whilst not fearing a strong attack from Ruso, he has plenty of time to make seige+castle defence and attack Chris safely. Chris on the other hand does not attack Jordan, but takes this time to really put some damage on Riut. As he has Riut outnumbered with xbows, he finds a nearly cut gap in the wood and takes the time to dominate Riut's wood again and kill Riut's army, although he has been left with only a small number of xbows, he manages to kill Riut's gold villagers too before sacrificing the rest of his army. At this point Jordan hits Chris whilst he is defenceless at home, but Chris can protect the majority of his economy with TCs until he makes enough army to fend off Jordan. Jordan then follows up with a mass amount of plume archers and Riut with xbows. Ruso helps with a few mangonel whilst Chris uses his TCs and xbows to fend off the enemy again.
At this point Ruso realises he can't damage Jordan in castle age so he sends the rest of his xbows To Riut to do a bit of damage, but Riut is able to defend easily.
Now comes Imperial Age. Chris is first to reach it, as would be expected since he was first to castle and was booming xbows as aztecs with a much stronger eco than Riut. Riut quickly walls as he is not ready to fight but Chris manages to break in again and hurt Riut's eco once more, he also uses some other eagles to raid Jordan's eco. At this point, although Ruso imps faster than Jordan, Jordan has a much stronger eco and is in a better position as he has massed plumes already. Ruso makes eagles ready to defend whilst giving himself time to make plumes. Jordan and Riut are both now imperial, Jordan is getting his army ready to kill Ruso and starts to push, but Riut is in a dead position, he has little gold left with no way to expand. With Riut out of the way Jordan is left to 1v2 and as he knows they are in a dead position. RVK call GG.
