Stats - We could start adding in some stats for things like this. Maybe "player profiles" that come up as the game is loaded. So for this 2v2 you could have had a picture of each of the team members their stats in all AoE tournaments ever, stats in EG tournaments, Voobly rating, ELOs etc. Whacked them up next to each other when the next game is coming up instead of the purple crown thingy.
I know a lot of my ideas are time consuming and maybe logistically hard / not possible but I think some of them may actually make things easier and see EG grow. You don't want to get to the point where Zak thinks, oh my god, I really can't take another three days straight of casting (lets assume there are qualifiers in this made up tournament) after the casting I was doing three weeks ago - so the tournament doesn't go ahead. Where as if there is more time when you can go get that cuppa because a different set of guys are streaming I think this push will last longer and see the game grow further.
I miss my overlay
We have someone who is actually working on an app to create loads of awesome stats about the players based off of their previous tournament performance. We'll be able to upload all of the rec games, have the app analyse them and then provide in-stream stats like: When Viper is the first to reach Feudal age he wins the game 85% of the time.
That's going to be super exciting, and to use these stats further than just in-stream, we will be creating a hall of fame page on the escape.gg website with detailed player stats about the players there as well.
This is something I've been thinking about a lot! I don't want to be the host every single weekend because I understand that not everyone wants to see my casting 100% of the time, in fact I think it would also be great to see different teams of casters (Res+T90) for example, or any other combination.
This is something that's incredibly hard to achieve without having everyone in one "studio", the stream quality is often deteriorated when it's being re-streamed. Team viewer also works horribly with aoe2. There's some huge technical hurdles to overcome but we certainly have some ideas on how to do it. Just got to try it out.
To add to this, the ideal situation is: One stream PC which has a producer who handles all of the scene switching, input switching etc. Then you'd have one observer who has their POV streamed to the Streaming PC as well as the casters. Then the casters will do their commentary based on the observers POV.
This is how that kind of setup looks when done properly:
Now, doing that over the internet and with a minimal number of people is a challenge to say the least.
This image I took at DreamHack Winter where our DotA2 team were playing, this was the back-stage production for the DreamLeague event only. The Production at The International 6 was essentially the size of a sports hall, I'll see if I can find a pic of that anywhere. No pic but here is a video clip of the production for TI6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Axm44umbRI
i like the things carlini8 said and also want to say that i really liked BBQturkmans casting! pls bring him back. he was well prepared too!
I miss my overlay
Some very constructive comments in this post. Are we in aoczone ? :P
I miss my overlay
I guess he was refering to the voobly overlay and I can not agree more. I miss it as well a lot. The main concern imo is about the villagers/millitary units number
I saw there was also a lot of hype for Tatoh going so far in the Spanish community, another reason I believe the numbers were true.
Spec overlay indeed. I quite like it to see villager and military numbers and upgrades. But I've understood it's not possible for HD apparently. Some very constructive comments in this post. Are we in aoczone ? :P

Ah absolutely, it was not as nice to cast and I felt we were missing a lot of things without the spec dashboard.

[*]Nili as cameraman - I'm torn on this. I personally loved it and how he would always point out interesting stuff, but I can understand the critcism of the camera and casting not focusing on the same thing, it can be a bit jarring. I think the "safer" set up is to keep it as the caster POV and do the aNILIsys afterwards
