My summary of the day, not much insight in the first half due to rly bad lag. The second channel was working weirdly enough.

Slam vs Barles
Nice comeback after a really horrible first day for Slam but I still feel he needs to raise his level somewhat for tomorrow. Barles proving being the ultimate underdog in the tournament unfortunately.

Tatoh vs Dogao
Again, impressed by Tatohs level, dogao did not look too good in this one although I did not catch much of it due to laaaag.

Villese vs Nicov
If Nicov only had some more resiliance I mean you have to play on in game one?! All in all fine and close series with villese just edging it out.
Was as close as their Hidden Cup series.

Daut vs Jordan
I assume it was an amazing set, but the lag really killed it. Amazing performence from Jordan though. Daut almost out with this one unfortunately. Jordan really looking strong, semi final would not suprise me at all from him.

Vinchester vs Capoch
Wow! First big surprise of the day. I believed Vinchester having the edge here quite considerably, but Capoch proved me wrong. I think its really questionable to not go for the lakes on Atacama. He rule when there is fish, you need to fish applies here. High quality games though.

Lierrey vs MBL
I don't know, Lierrey just has the mental edge against MBL. Somehow MBL needs to find something to deal with Lierrey, their individual match up just seems bad for MBL. Still two highly entertaining games though.

Hera vs Viper
Undoubetly the series of the day. Excellent performence from Viper in game one. Weird choice in game two for me with a bad map, but that weird choice delivered an amazing game 3, the game of the tournament so far. Relentless pressure from Hera, amazing defence by Viper, then using new Bohemian Bombards to get the win. Surely in the Top 3 of the games in this tournament. Just very very good play by both players.

Looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully without tech difficulties...

The 3 Ups of the Day:
1) Jordan, again, just seemed in very good form
2) Viper, showing that he can be aggressive and defensive in EW
3) Capoch, did not expect that he'd beat Vinchester

The 3 Downs of the Day:
1) Dogao, seemed to underperfrom today
2) Barles, hope he manages to win a game
3) Daut, the Lord being potentially out is a bummer

The match-ups are random (within each group with the same amount of series won), so Buchholz doesn't have much to do with it. Buchholz is only used at the end of the group stage to rank the players.

The schedule was indeed already set before they expanded the event and they didn´t want to make it longer. I´m not sure what the exact reason is, but given that production is already working a lot of hours, it makes a lot of sense

There we go. He is right the current arrangement is a little inelegant I think but it was the right call to invite dogao and expand the tournament once the mistake was discovered and it is good that Ornlu and Lidakor got a chance to cast in such a big event.

Bit of recency bias I think.
Personally I feel the Cross game in Hidden Cup 4 between Viper and Hera was more back and forth and more spectacular.

I think it's in part recency bias, but also the fact that this was a very cutthroat bo3 in the biggest tournament of the last years in a LAN setting did certainly add up to the tension and intensity!

Different definitions of cutthroat I guess, I can't consider a group stage game any cutthroat especially since it was the third one (so both players had ensured a win at least), considering it's more than likely both of them will make the playoffs without issue!

Fair enough! I think they'll both still make it in the group stage of course, but to me it felt like an early taste of what's to come if they meet again, I was on the edge of my seat the entire set! :D

In my opinion its just not as easy to follow as the online drafting we are used to.

Maybe I'm overreacting to mistaking him for Nicov in HC4 because of his negligent eco upgrades, but I saw Villese never even got double-bit axe in the Haboob game against Tatoh and I'm starting to think he may be even worse about the eco upgrades than Nicov.

Overall great day again. Had some catching up to do.

Daut vs Nicov
Both games went kind of post imp but Nicov forgetting important upgrades was kind of the theme for both games. A bit sad for Nicov, happy for Daut to get one win.

MBL vs Slam
Decent series. Was happy for slam to get one win. MBL played a very good game 2 and 3 though and took the series.

Dogao vs Barles
Pretty close stuff. Happy for Barles to take one game, with the loss Barles is already out and I'b be surprised if Dogao manages to make it with his current level.

Villese vs Tatoh
High Quality series with Tatoh taking game 1 convincingly, then Villese playing a fantastic game two and Tatoh taking his home then again. Absolutely worth to watch.

Vinchester vs Hera
Two excellent games by Hera, one could even say masterclasses. Fantastic performences really, Vinch not playing bad at all but Hera just being better.

Jordan vs Capoch
What can you say? Jordan is just on a roll. Yet again a very good performence and totally deserved the 2:0.

Lierrey vs Viper
Game 3 was good, game one and two were a bit fast for my taste. The series did not really click for me which is rare for a Viper/Lierrey series. Game 3 was an exciting Atacama game though!


3 Standouts:
1) Hera, very good recovery from the narrow defeat yesterday, played fantastic today
2) Tatoh, edging out Villese in a close series and retaining good chances
3) Lierrey/Jordan, gotta name the two undefeated players in the tournament together, fantastic performences from them so far.

Not at all my impression. G3 was over for me the second Liereyy clicked castle without too many losses and although Viper managed to survive for quite some time, it was over for him.

G1 and G2 were top level and exciting

I think it rather was the momen viper threw away his spearmen while teching pike. It was still a pretty even game for a long time. Yes lierey had a clear advantage in early castle but it wasnt lost yet.

This seems to be a common thing though: I feel the players do often not realize when the opponent has clicked up to castle age. I never manage to pay attention to score dips even on RM, but it seems EW makes this too difficult even for the best of the best.

Made a qualification sheet based on predictions.

Note: If Buchholz points are equal, it doesn't look for further criteria. I made it based on what I understood how the system works, there maybe mistakes. Made it quickly, havent checked it thoroughly.

yeah shame he's not going to make the cut anyhow, but great game to watch anyway! Luckily they still have a good incentive to fight on with the $250 on the line for this set.

I don't think the casters realize this, but all of them have started saying "yeah yeah" or even worse "yeah yeah yeah" about two dozen times per game. I'm really not sure where they picked that up, but it is insanely annoying.

Its one of those things that once you start noticing, you can't unnotice. Should have just kept quiet do others don't. Sometimes I start noticing where my tongue is sitting in my mouth and then thinking about it and it bothers me for a while.

I learned recently that if your tongue doesn't rest at the roof of your mouth you should consult a therapist, as it's connected to a host of other issues. It has caused me a significant amount of distress.

Great, now I'm thinking about caster quirks and my tongue placement...
