Hello everyone, I'm Zetnus.
Many of you will recognize me as the person who made the grid mod for DE, however, my main area of expertise with with regards to aoe2 is actually random map scripting. I've been making maps since probably 2012, and am one of the leading authorities on the subject (having recently finished a massive guide documenting random map scripting for DE).
I the creator of HyperRandom. I also have a map pack for DE, and even more maps for HD, which are still waiting to be remastered for DE.
My maps have seen use in ECL, Spring Brawl, and some smaller more recent events like Llama's Chaos Cup and Masters of RMS. I also made the official maps for Age of Fantasy, and will be making the maps for Sengoku as well.
Custom map scripts are an important part of making almost any tournament happen, yet we sometimes see too little appreciation for the map makers of our community, who often put in many hours to polish their maps into a final form. Yet they usually receive at most a few mentions. That, or criticism for bad map generations
I recently I made a four brand-new maps for Outback Rumble, and there has been some controversy regarding this. The admin of Double Cup asked us to use one of the maps, but was told not to do so. Then, more recently, French Rumble was announced, which is to use several Outback Rumble maps, despite not having asked anyone. This has lead me to have discussions with various members of the community, including admins and other prominent map makers.
I have decided the following:
In this specific case, French Rumble will be allowed to use my maps. Additionally, Double Cup will be allowed to do so as well, if they wish to.
However, going forward, I will have a specific policy regarding these types of cases; namely:
I am not trying to be restrictive here, and I recognize that there there are many smaller events occurring and that many of these are passion projects. The intention is not to impose any kind of burden on those.
However, in times where we are seeing prize pools of upwards of a thousand dollars, it seems only fair that the map makers are recognized for their work with more than a footnote.
Thank you for taking your time to read this. If you would like a map specifically made for your event (or your total conversion), you can always contact me to discuss. I'm happy to see what I can do.
EDIT:
I have had a chat with Cédric about French Rumble. Independent of of this post, they have decided to have this as a private event for the French community after all. No hard feelings.

- Any event with a prize pool of under $500, will be allowed to use and/or adapt my maps, provided that I am credited somewhere in the posting. Also I would appreciate if you shoot me a message - I would love to watch my maps being played <3
- For any event with a prize pool of $500 or more, I ask that you contact me first to discuss the inclusion or adaptation of my maps. The easiest way reach me is on Discord, but AoEZone messages work well too. I don't intend to be denying anyone, but I DO want to discuss it.
- Finally, if maps have been made for a specific event and that event is still running or yet to happen, contact me (and the admins) before using them, as the admins may want the maps to be event-exclusive.
