Here are a few reasons, why I'm typing up my format:
Preparation: Set up AOC Sorter 2.5 from here and copy two batch files in your \SaveGame\ -folder (coded by Genette (thanks a lot my friend they work like a charm) to help with .mgz files) uploaded here.
1. Download the rec file/s from voobly.
2. .mgx or .mgz files depending on the UserPatch version used.
2a. in case you have .mgx files then copy those files to your \SaveGame} -folder, use AOC Sorter and you will get your files renamed automatically.
For example after using AOC Sorter you will have a file named like this:
[CKF]Zi_Promise(Hu)=vs=[CKF]geoffrey(Hu)-1v1-LightRM(AoCZ)v2--29-Sep-2013-17`10.mgz
So like I said, after this I rearrange the filename starts first the names of the players , then date/time , map played and in case of 1vs1 (like this file) I put civs at the end and the file will look like this:
[CKF]Zi_Promise=vs=[CKF]geoffrey--29-Sep-2013-17`10-1v1-LightRM(AoCZ)v2-(Hu)=vs=(Hu).mgx
In case of team game a file after using AOC Sorter will be like this :
[CKF]LoveCheng(Ma)+[CKF]geoffrey(Hu)=vs=[CKF]Zi_Promise(Hu)+[CKF]_PBT_Dee(Ma)-2v2-CoT_Map_Pack--29-Sep-2013-20`08.mgx
After rearranging the file it will look like this:
[CKF]LoveCheng+[CKF]geoffrey=vs=[CKF]Zi_Promise+[CKF]_PBT_Dee--29-Sep-2013-20`08-2v2-CoT_Map_Pack.mgx
For team games, I am not adding the civs at the end, becuase it would be too messy - I try to keep it simple.
If it is only this file, then zip it and upload it to aoczone. If there are more games played than one, download all of them, cut/paste to the \SaveGame\ folder in AOC, use AoC Sorter, rearrange the files accordingly by putting Game1, Game2 etc. so that ppl will make the connection to see which game one player/team won and lost from your description.
This is the example in case more than one game was played between the same players/teams:
[CKF]Zi_Promise=vs=[CKF]geoffrey--29-Sep-2013-17`10-Game1-1v1-LightRM(AoCZ)v2-(Hu)=vs=(Hu).mgx
[CKF]Zi_Promise=vs=[CKF]geoffrey--29-Sep-2013-17`33-Game2-1v1-LightRM(AoCZ)v2-(Vi)=vs=(Vi).mgx
It's important to put the map at the end and civs behind player names.
For team games they will be like this :
[CKF]LoveCheng+[CKF]geoffrey=vs=[CKF]Zi_Promise+[CKF]_PBT_Dee--29-Sep-2013-20`08-Game1-2v2-CoT_Map_Pack.mgx
[CKF]LoveCheng+[CKF]geoffrey=vs=[CKF]Zi_Promise+[CKF]_PBT_Dee--29-Sep-2013-20`28-Game2-2v2-CoT_Map_Pack.mgx
2b. in case you have .mgz files, then like with the other files cut/copy them to your \SaveGame\ folder.
- 1st thing use the "#1_rename-mgz-to-UPmgx.bat"-file to have your recorded files converted to .mgx files, because the AOC Sorter only works automatically with .mgx files.
- use AOC Sorter to get the files autorenamed
- After that, you will have the files renamed like those explained in point 2a
- last thing use "#3_rename-UPmgx-to-mgz.bat"-file to have all your .mgx files autorenamed to .mgz files without changing anything else and you are ready to zip it/them and upload to aoczone.
3. When having also stream sessions of the game/s the embedded code for twitch is this :
where you replace twitchusername with the according one from the stream and same with number of the session
For example having DreaIVIS streamed his games vs CarlosFerdinand here :
http://www.twitch.tv/aoewithdreaivis/b/466531124
Instead of writing only the url , would be better to embed the code so that the videos can be watched straight from the page and also include the start times for each game , so after changing twitchusername with aoewithdreaivis and the number of session with the one from the link at the end 466531124 , your code will become like this :
In the page you will see it in the final form :
g1 - 06:42 , g2 - 39:33 , g3 - 1:08:40
[twitch=466531124]aoewithdreaivis[/twitch]
Hope this small tutorial will be helpfull for those who are willing to start posting games. The important thing is to keep a common format, so it's easier to have continuity. The title, the description, the score and so on depends on you, it doesn't have to be like mine, but let's keep the format to which most users are used.
I wanted to write this post so ppl get an idea about the format of the recs I am using and to follow it if they decide they want to post games as well , I consider that since I use it for more than 10k+ games already would be good to have continuity , not because I said so cause I am a f...g VIP or a f...g king , but imagine if another guy coming to post , use other format then comes another using different format and so on , then the so called database for everyone downloading games will be messed up. I come up to use this latest format after trying various and I think it's the best I could do (with the help of DK) , because the files are arranged by player's names then date and time , maps and in 1vs1 civs, so it's easy to find them in all those thousands of recs. Downloading , unzipping , renaming , arranging then re zipping the files and uploading them takes from few minutes up to 4 - 7 minutes for a match depending how many games are played , now multiply it with 30 or sometimes even 50 times and again you can make an idea about how much time I use to posting games here , it's not rocket science but also it's not as simple as it may seem , so I really consider that the guys who are jumping to post only the best 2-3 matches of the day can and should really at least tell me about their willing to post those so I won't lose time do to myself the same files for nothing. And since some of them are/may be willing to do some posts I consider that following a format/pattern would be best to keep that continuity , again I am saying it , not because I am any f..g king or VIP but because it's good , it's like in tournament ppl follow some rules. I really hope I won't be misunderstood here and just see the real point that it is.
