Possible explanation for slow AOE4 patches?

A thought occurred to me that maybe Microsoft is waiting for the Blizzard RTS devs to come on board before making big patches. Not to turn it into SC2 but more for their technical expertise and general RTS knowledge. Any chance this is true or is my head with the fairies?

I would say "ur daft m8" since there is already a (supposedly) elite development studio working on the game and the Blizzard acquisition isn't slated for completion until 2023 but with the level of managerial incompetency I've observed from Microsoft I don't think it's entirely implausible that the idea has crossed their minds.

The fact that they spent budget to marketing the game and Nili is the real reason. You can't feed devs nowadays with 5 dollars cheese steaks from Jimmy's.

I think it might be the opposite: the Warcraft Refund devs are waiting for the AoE 4 devs to show them how to add more civs in each DLC

I read somewhere it's related to the engine used for aoe4 and it might be true.

Relic is probably too busy with Company of Heroes 3, which makes sense because that's their flagship franchise and they want to survive; unlike Ensemble Studios. I don't think MS would want to draw devs from the guaranteed money-makers that are the Blizzard games to work on the Frankenstein monster of ideas and mechanics that is AoE4. Even if devs / studios that are deemed ''competent'' by the industry can make a game great, I doubt throwing in more mangled body parts from other RTS games will make AoE4 as good or as unique as the other age games.

They probably realized or re-adjusted their financial goals for AoE4 and don't want to spend dev time on something they can't milk as much as they'd like.
