Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of the AoE DE community,
There are a tremendous amount of positives that have been brought to us by DE.
As is often the case, some negatives often come as well. The good with the bad sorta thing.
Luckily, the bad in this particular case seems to be very fixable.
The issue:
AoC can be likened to a Rock Paper Scissors game.
Currently, we have a situation where Scissors (ranged) beat both Paper(melee) and Rock(cavalry).
This is largely due to melee units mechanics, in particular the COLLISION attribute.
They collide and do not run through other units, as they could otherwise do in AoC/WK.
This renders all melee units pretty much useless for any purpose other than raiding, or dancing to divert fire from your allied ranged units, which significantly limits the game.
The solution:
Collision needs to be removed from melee units, allowing for them to pass through and actually combat/trap ranged units (as we all know and love from AoC/WK)
This seems to be possible as:
(a) herdables and vills can walk through other gathering vills.
(b) there seems to be a trade cart mod or scenario that their collision to 0.
