I agree with you about comparing the views of scholars and finding your own path. I think thats the right thing to do.
But proofs are for science, you can prove some math theorem. You cant prove anything about religion. Thats why even scholars interpret things in different way. I am not talking about any verse in particular here, but in general, you cant say 'I am right about that verse, because this verse means that...'.

How can you be sure about the correctness of your interpratations/conclusions while there are many scholars say the opposite?
(I know there are scholars on your side as well)
