At this point I've played enough games on the new balance to be sure of what I'm saying. Now when a trush comes in and I need to drop a defensive tower I usually don't have enough wood in the bank to defend myself.
If you have a bad woodline, the trushing player can build the first aggressive towers there, and the game is over. You might be able to drop one defensive tower, but unless you're floating a ton of wood in early feudal age you won't be able to build a new lumbercamp and a defensive stone mining camp.
This balance change only encourages the current trend of refusing to think about strategy and just going for some form of trush every single game.
A real fix to the problem has to be something that hurts an aggressor more than it hurts the defender. There are probably others, but I can think of two easy ways this can be accomplished.
1. Switch the cost of a tower to 125 stone and some amount of food, say 30 or so. This would hurt the trushing player more than the defender since the defender should have more farmers.
2. Decrease the range of towers, and increase the LOS of villagers until the towers have the same LOS as villagers. That way a defender could always see when a tower is about to come down that denies something critical.
I definitely prefer the first option, since it would be a smaller change to the overall game. You could still drop an occasional tower but m@a trush and all in trush would be nerfed.
