Hi all,
I have been thinking about a change to the group stage format for GSL (double elimination) system where you can get a rematch in the decider match of two players who have previously played each other in the opening round of group matches.
In the latest Empire Wars competition 3/4 groups had the decider match become a repeat - for some fans this may be boring, or a little unfair to some players who were in a tough group.
My suggestion is that at the Decider Match stage the loser of the "winners" match plays the winner of another groups "losers/elimination" match.
For example instead of:
Group A: DauT VS Nicov (repeat)
Group B: ACCM VS dogao
Group C: JorDan VS Vinchester (repeat)
Group D: Villese VS MbL (repeat)
You would have
DauT VS dogao
ACCM VS Nicov
JorDan VS MbL
Villese VS Vinchester
This potentially means you get the better players progressing to the Quarter finals.
Of course no system is perfect.
Any thoughts?
