Btw I like the idea of removing any kind of ladder for NPL lobby.
You wanna play for fun, with friends, that's fine play unrated.
You wanna get a rating and see what's ur level compared to every one? Then you're interested in competition so go play in MS.
(This means increase MS capacity drasticly, apart from having more room is there a negative side to this?)
This. The NPL should not have a ladder system at all. It should be a place for NEW PLAYERS to go to, or for those who do not enjoy the competitive side of AOC.
+1 not everyone wants to play competitively and this offers the best solution IMO. "New Players" also synonymous with "Casual Players" in this situation don't need a ratings system as much. Simply display their games played, won/lost and leave it at that. If people want to take it seriously and play more competitively then they know where to go.
Pointing the blame about lack of activity in MS at specs/viewers is total BS as well.
Seems like a terrible idea. Skilllevel between players in NPL is huge and only rating can reflect the skill in some way. Rating allows to have more fair games compared to not showing any rating.
I agree that players shouldn't put less attention to the rating and should just play more unrated/casual matches and enjoy it. If you don't want to master build orders and try to get as good as you can get, you shouldn't bother too much about your rating either. Though still showing rating is fine and allows more fair teams.
