Makes me miss the classic AoC install on Voobly. Create an empty folder called Age of Empires II, tell voobly thats where you have the game installed, it'll say "You're missing some files for the game to work properly! Would you like us to download them for you?" Or something to that effect, and the client will just download the game for you.Is there a newer YouTube video that can help me set up voobly? I play mostly DE, but played a bit on voobly back in the day. Figured it would be fun to revisit, but never got wololo running well with it.
I played on voobly because computer, most times DM. and play DE whren i go to a friend that has 2 computers than can run it.So I played Voobly last night for the nostalgia and the level there has declined greatly but the base AoC game is so smooth it is insane. Lag is an issue yes but versus similar region players its not noticeable and the pathing and smoothness of the game (clicking, placing farms, the cursor, toggling between buildings) is even better than DE imo
I don't want to go in backwards direction but the fact that the Voobly community has kept it alive and implemented the DE civs into the original game says we have something to fall back to in case microsoft decides to stop the servers (following the decline of Aoe IV which may happen, it happened to Aoe III so you never know what can happen)
