This is about both team water games and 1 vs 1 water games.
How do you think the naval warfare would be different in AoFE compared to AoC?
How would the Vikings, Byzantines, and Koreas be different now compared to before? How do the new civs rank in water warfare?
I think that in AoFE we would definitely see more fire ships and demolition ships. Galleons still rule the seas, but making pure galleons is more risky now and players would have to make a few more heavy demolition ships nearby just in case they get attacked by fire ships. And if they don't have heavy demo ships, then hopefully they have researched dry dock and can do hit & run with good micro. Also, players who lost early naval wars could more easily make a comeback, now that fire ships have been boosted.
Also, in team water games, Byzantines and Koreans would be chosen more frequently. They're still not as strong in 1 vs 1 water games (since it's almost always galley rushing), but in team water games, the Byzantines can do fast castle and pump out fire ships, and the Koreans can do fast castle drop and pump out turtle ships. It's the Byzantine fast castle that would be far scarier, because it forces the opponent to use demo ships since it is much more difficult to counter fire ships that have 1 more range with war galleys.
Vikings would still be top tier on water maps, even with the nerfs. Now they're an excellent naval civ as opposed to an "uber-tier-every-civ-needs-to-have-one-as-a-teammate" naval civ.
