Some of these numbers might be interesting/surprising.
I went and searched their database here, using a couple parameters. First, I set it to 1v1 and exact map name "arabia" (no, this does not include GA games then, but it avoids DM games, and not a ton of 2k+ games on on GA). Then I set average rated range between 2000 and 3000, then searched each civ. The following is a ranked list.
Aoczone databse search
1v1 Arabia/GA games, overall rate from 2k to 3k
1. Huns (3119)
2. Aztecs (316)
3. Mayans (159)
4. Mongols (138)
5. Celts (83)
6. Byzantines (51)
7. Chinese (48)
8. Vikings (40)
9. Britons (38)
10. (tie) Teutons and Persians (35)
12. Koreans (30)
13. (tie) Goths and Japanese (28)
15. Saracens (22)
16. Franks (21)
17. (tie) Turks (19) and Spanish (19)
The following is an alphabetized list of civs based on usage %
Aztecs (7.47%)
Britons (.90%)
Byz (1.21%)
Celts (1.96%)
Chinese (1.14%)
Franks (.50%)
Goths (.66%)
Huns (73.75%)
Japanese (.66%)
Koreans (.71%)
Mayans (3.76%)
Mongols (3.26%)
Persians (.83%)
Saracens (.52%)
Spanish (.45%)
Teutons (.83%)
Turks (.45%)
Vikings (.95%)
A couple notes to keep in mind: some of the games may be posted in a couple locations, increasing the total tally, but I think the general order would remain the same (at least Huns first, 11)
I was pretty surprised by this list. First off, it really shows the massive disconnect between Huns and every other civ on 1v1 Arabia, even Aztecs. Huns accounted for 65% more games of the total than the Aztecs did, and lots of people consider them neck and neck for top on 1v1 Arabia. It was also really disappointing to see how few 2k+ games have been played involving some of the bottom civs. Obviously, the aoczone rate algorithim doesn't use ratings from MSNzone, but still, only 19 games in the IGZ/Voobly era from Turks or Spanish?
As for specific slots, I was very very surprised to see Celts fall below Mongols for overall usage. I had thought Celts would be #3 going into it, Mayans #4, Byz #5, Mongols #6, but obviously I was wrong. I was also surprised to see Spanish in a tie for dead last. I would've thought they'd have ranked about Koreans for sure.
