Also to consider is how friendly are the players playing in new player games. I have been fortunate that most everyone has been friendly. If I were new and struggling, and people just kept calling me a noob without offering real help, than I wouldn't want to play anymore. If I have someone on my team that is several hundred Elo points higher, he should expect his noob to play poorly and try to help rather than slander the player in game. Same to be said of higher rate players that join newer players lobbies. A lot of times on steam I will host 1600+ games. That means proficient noobs up to experienced players. But hey if you are a high rate and we are vs some other high rates, I am going to need your help. If you don't want to help, well you shouldn't play with noobs. Pretty simple idea. Yet even still you see lots of high rate steam players, playing with noobs, then Giving them a hard time rather than helping. Fortunately everyone in vooblies Npl has been very nice and helpful. I find it to be about half and half of the high rate steam players. That being said, steam was great for quickly getting me back into the game. I think it's a lot easier to learn the game now if you want. Back in the day you might have known a quick up archer or trush build or maybe one fc build. Now in random map, you see a lot more units being used and the game has changed a lot. If it wasn't for the communities being friendly, this game would ostracize all newer players. It's so old, that most appeal to newer games.
