@Memeluke that is working as intended for 1v1 and considering how many different skill tiers there are in aoe2 i would expect it to reach at least 3k. It just takes quite a while for a new rating list to reach a full representative skill distribution through natural growth for a game where so few actual matches are played (most people just dont play thousands of games...). That is just how elo based rating systems work. They are about relative rating difference showing relative win probability, not a absolute number representing ur skill. So while people maybe dont expect or want that, a 4000+ rating at the top would not be something to be surprised by.

As for TG rating: certain people are simply not playing enough TGs on ladder for there to be a representative rating distribution. If the top players would queue a lot of Tgs than that would most likely change quite fast. Wont happen though since there is not a lot of incentive for them to do compared to premade matches.

@IRC_tomate since its two seperate rating lists u cant compare those numbers at all, thats just not how elo ratings work. I would find it highly unlikely that the skillrange for TGs is the same as for 1v1 in the first place.

Few months ago i remember complaining about the clown tg ladder, the clown rors guys were saying "we are number 1 in the world", after boa and their amazing performance they stopped climbing the tg ladder, but other clowns wanted to reach 3k, if Am, viper's gang or suomi, even the chinese team start playing there, they could reach 3.5k in 2 weeks.

The tg ladder has 1k points exactly of mere inflation compared to the 1x1 ladder, a 1k reduction of all tg ranks and fixing elo distribution (8 points max) per 4x4 would fix things.

The amount of points does not matter the relative point differential matters. You would expect TG rating to be much higher than its 1v1 counterpart since a lot more players and thus points are involved. One thing that is odd about the tg ladder though, is that the median rating is roughly 1350 atm. Normally, if we assume the starting rate is 1000 as on all other ladders, you would expect the median to end up roughly around 1000, which is clearly not the case here.

Why does it matter what the absolute Elo number is? Elo is literally only comparable within the same system so who cares if it's on average 1k higher than 1v1? As long as it's reasonable effective at matchmaking (which I think it is), it's doing it's job. Of course, you can run into some issues where if you mainly queue as a premade but occasionally queue solo, you're probably being overrated the times you queue solo, but there's not an easy solution to that.

What should be done is change it so that points gained/lost are based on the team's average, not the highest player on the opposing team, which should help alleviate the issue of points being created out of thin air.

Maybe it just makes sense since the both are completely different game mods, and I think the matchmaking helps a lot into finding tgs so it can be assumed that there's more people playing than before and more elo distributing...

I got 2350 in TG on a smurf, played one 1v1 game and went straight to 2k 1v1. Interesting how i lost most of the gamesand ended my placement games at 2 w 10 L 1700 rating lol it's so busted. In DM I played 1 game and got 2k1 in TG and 1v1 it doesn't work at all. They should just use the voobly system where there's a modifier but the rating of other ladders doesn't have an effect on the initial change.
