With RBW2 we have a sponsor that is serious about e-sports and makes it clear aoe2 has much potential, if only as an appetizer for aoe4.
Red Bull has a point with opting for the empire wars format to speed things up a bit, but I feel the game mode is skewed too heavily towards pro play and also too far away from current, generally accepted standard random map settings and the balancing around these settings.
I think an argument can be made for updating the current standard random map start.
This thread has no official weight to it and is clearly an opinion, so I just want to poke the beehive here and start a conversation, so no need to be instantly dismissive let's just brainstorm!
Example:
- Dark age
- TC
- 1 Scout
- 3 villagers
- berries
- 2x2 sheep
- 2 boars
- 4 deers
(Standard so far)
- 3 houses
- 4 sheep under TC
- 1 Mill (on berries)
- 1 Lumber camp (on closest wood)
- 14 additional villagers (6 sheep, 4 berries, 4 wood)
