The Mirror Showmatch was an interesting experiment - it's hard to say if it made a huge difference in the matches that were played. Still, nevertheless, it was exciting to try something different. I doubt it's going to be the future of Age of Empires 2 - a lot of the charm, in my opinion, is from the randomness and ability to the adapt to your surroundings, but again, it was still exciting to try this format out.

The civilisations are also locked to precisely what they chose, and some units and starting resources are also changed accordingly.
