Would be another one in a string of tourney's to come!
This may come as a shock to you but there's literally one half of the world where it's winter in June and there are no holidays.june?? is it bad timing though? unless corona hits full force, would ppl be watching or enjoying holidays somewhere away from their screens..time will tell
tbh, no one really cares about that half of the world (for tournaments and more broadly unfortunately). Tournament sponsors aren't hoping to nail down the Australian or Chilean viewer market. This may come as a shock to you but there's literally one half of the world where it's winter in June and there are no holidays.
Yes and no. I'll not discuss Oz and NZ because timezones mean I hardly ever coincide with them. I agree that in many regards people don't give two shits about South America, and there's of course less money there than there is in NA or Europe, for sure, but the player base and viewership there is huge (Argentina + Brazil + Chile probably have a player base comparable to US + Canada while having a smaller population). From a streamer's point of view, pulling them in is a very good way to promote your channel and boost your viewer numbers – more viewers translate into better sponsorship deals.tbh, no one really cares about that half of the world (for tournaments and more broadly unfortunately). Most tournaments are concerned with Europe, US, and China
Brazil has mostly tropical climate. Only 3% of the worlds population is below the Tropic of Capricorn, and has winter during the summer of the northern hemisphere.Yes and no. Companies have also been sponsoring tournaments aimed at the Latin American public - Aorus has sponsored two events hosted by NachoAoE, and partypoker has sponsored one or two tournaments organised by Capoch and, I believe, LocoSer. Returns may be lower, but so is the investment required.
Finally, that region also hosts some big names both in terms of players (Hearttt, dogao, miguel, Capoch...) and content creators (mario ovalle, who is barely in the northern hemisphere but a lot of his viewers are from further South, and NachoAoE). It's not a place you want to ignore when it comes to AoE. Hell, I'd argue a big reason for the game being still alive is South America consistently playing the game for 20+ years.
It's not about the climate but about when you or your kids (depending on your age) have summer break and go on holidays vs having your usual daily routine, staying at home and watching an aoe tournament. Summer break in Brazil is during, wait for it... Summer.Brazil has mostly tropical climate. And winter atleast for most part of the population dense coast, where they have 4 weeks as well. But further inlands and most impoirtantly rio has only 2 weeks. It's not about the climate but about when you or your kids (depending on your age) have summer break and go on holidays vs having your usual daily routine, staying at home and watching an aoe tournament. Yes, just like in the North, but reversed. Which is exactly my point. And winter atleast for most part of the population dense coast, where they have 4 weeks as well. But further inlands and most impoirtantly rio has only 2 weeks.
This may come as a shock to you too but northern hemisphere contains 87.8% of world populationThis may come as a shock to you but there's literally one half of the world where it's winter in June and there are no holidays.
It's a good thing you can count. Now if you could add Geography and knowledge about the four seasons plus a bit of common sense you might even pass first grade. This may come as a shock to you too but northern hemisphere contains 87.8% of world population
you can just say you were wrong so we can move on to the other ridiculous things you saidIt's a good thing you can count. Now if you could add Geography and knowledge about the four seasons plus a bit of common sense you might even pass first grade.
Yes, I'm wrong about there being two hemispheres with mirrored seasons. Do you happen to know whether the Earth is round or just flat? I'm interested in your take.you can just say you were wrong so we can move on to the other ridiculous things you said
we can wait.. trading insults doesnt get you anywhere

Those numbers are completely wrong if you're talking northern/southern hemisphere. Mexico is in the northern hemisphere and geographically part of of North America. Not sure why people think it's controversial to say the overwhelming majority of people live in the northern hemisphere.
Exactly this, which I pointed out before. Argentina alone (population ~45 million) has more active players than China + India + Japan + Pakistan + Russia + all of Southeast Asia (population ~4 billion). The fact of the matter is that population is irrelevant. What matters is the distribution of the actual player and viewer base, of which South America comprises a significant portion.

are these data available somewhere in accessible form?Exactly this, which I pointed out before. Argentina alone (population ~45 million) has more active players than China + India + Japan + Pakistan + Russia + all of Southeast Asia (population ~4 billion).
