This is absolutely not true. Castle age plumes still do only 1 damage per hit to castle age huskarls (unless the huskarls are missing every single armor upgrade), eagles lose to huskarls, and longswords without Supplies trade about evenly with castle age huskarls (but are extremely easy for Goths to counter in other ways). In imp with the elite upgrade, plumes deal 2 damage per hit vs elite huskarls, so it's 35 hits to kill, and considering how cheap and fast that elite huskarls produce (and the fact that Goths have fully upgraded elite skirms too + access to BBC), Goths beat Mayans in imp 9 times out of 10. Mayan 100 HP eagles trade somewhat efficiently vs elite huskarls (in total res only; huskarls are much more gold efficient) but Goths can easily make 2HS/champs against that, forcing the Mayan player to add arbs or plumes, by which point the Goth player can just switch back into pure elite huskarl, which will dominate against elite eagle + arb/elite plume (since any arbalest or elite plumed archer in the mix is essentially a waste of population space, compared to simply having pure elite eagle).
In castle age maybe not, but elite do just fine vs elite, fu huskarls with 2 attack/shot. Only need 35 to one-shot. A lot of people shy away from plumes but they trade quite well if you have a stack, and if you castles to support plumes to begin with that's probably your aim. A lot of people are scared away by plumes vs. goths because archer but the infantry bonus damage is pretty significant in the long-drawn out game given mayan privilege eco, it becomes virtually your only chance.
The partial (re: half of a one sentence post,) that you replied to was quoting another that stated Mayans are the only civ that dies to goths if they get to a castle and good eco. Not sure why disagreeing with that is "absolutely" not true.
