Master of the Circus Announcement

Master of the Circus is a 16-player Arena invitational tournament hosted by DracKeN, that will start on October 5. It will display 4 tiers of players split into 4 groups, each group having players from Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4. Based on the tiers, players will be given a significant civ handicap while playing against a player with a lower tier. After 3 weeks of group stage, the top 2 players from each group advance into single elimination bracket until we will have a circus champion. In order to have a different type of Arena tournament, we have invited legendary clowns and clown prospects exclusively! We have a prizepool for the tournament of 200 dollars sponsored by DracKeN.

@BacT Unlike any other tournament, we weren't looking for random top players, it's no secret that Viper and Hera wanted to join the tournament immediately when it was announced. However, we appreciate different values compared to the rest of the world and our application process isn't about writing 3 lines to a sign-up topic (for example each participant had to write a poem with his blood about his passion for Arena to test their clown spirit). Also, to make sure players only focus on this tournament, they weren't allowed to play in any other at the same time, that might explain why there aren't any clowns in top16 of KotD3, although all 16 MotC players would have a very easy way there, I had to throw 2:0 lead to make it to MotC.

Sorry if I'm going too offtopic... but I'd love to know when Arena players started getting called clowns. Is there a clear point when this happened? Did it start as an insult from a non-clown? If so I really love how you guys embraced it, that's how you do it!
I think I read something about it but I can't really recall exactly what it was.

i love how always when the master of arena is accounced all these so-called arena pros are so excited and dream about winning and then comes good old RM players who play arena once in a while and kick their clown asses. bunch of clowns on clown map. its like ln or bf, they are good/high rate cause its clown map and no one good actually play that map regularly but when they do, they kick those clowns back to HD. :lol:

Not even an announcement of the best showmatch of times! Me vs Jonslow which ended in a devastating 4-0 loss for Mr. Jonslow. I thought it would be worth mentioning here

I wonder whether the meme will ever die out. I imagine 2050 be like: Age of Empires 14 has just been released, AoE2 is pretty much dead. Just 50 players keep playing. Everyone who bans Arena in a ranked game gets reported for cheating and tournaments like "Arina Clown Contest" and "Save the Arina - the real Red Nose Day" are hosted on a monthly basis.

On a different note: As a German it hurts to see that the most recent German newcomer decided to throw his career away to join the clowns (Kappa)

You go to twitch.tv/jonslow_ then you type !memes in the chat and you'll get a list (most times with the source) for the best Arena Memes

 

While I am not most-excited for another Arena tournament (I like watching Arena, but prefer map diversity), I like the different structure with the groups and tiers which makes it different from Clown Cup 3.
And still hoping, Edie would come back one day.
