Hey guys,
Since KotD is a large, single elimination tournament with no shortage of hype, I think it would be perfect for a March Madness style bracket pool! For those who aren't familiar with the style, each participant would fill out a completed KotD bracket and the brackets would earn points for each correct pick. The number of points earned per pick doubles with each round of the tournament so each tournament round has the same number of points available.
[linethru]As for prizes, I could offer a small cash prize ($15 or so) for the top bracket to start with and would accept donations from entrants to increase the prize pool. I don't want to require entrance fees for the pool because I'm just a random stranger on the internet and I understand not wanting to send me money. Even with a small prize pool, bragging rights should be enough motivation to get hyped for your picks.
As for the logistics, I'm not a great programmer and don't have any experience running things like this so the easiest way I can think of to score the brackets is with a google sheets spreadsheet where everyone submits a page with their picks in a template and I format them into a book with a master bracket. I could have google sheets automatically score all of the brackets when I update the master and sort them by score on a leaderboard. This would require some copy/pasting for each entrant but it shouldn't be too much effort for me to run if there are ~100 or so total entries. If anyone more experienced wants to organize the pool I'd be happy to hand over the reins.
Here's a sample template:
