You don't appear to understand what I said.
US West is -8.
Europe 0.
Asia +8.
These are three zones spaced as far apart on a sphere as they possibly could be. No matter what you do, at least one zone is going to be marginalized when all three are involved in some kind of simultaneous event. This is a non-negotiable physical reality.
This is why it makes sense to use recs to insulate the players from the demands of a casting schedule, especially for long and uncertain series involving players from different zones.
Hey, I think you got wrong what I was trying to convey. I am mainly saying that scheduling currently isn't up to players needs but spectator/viewer groups.
But still, I think your post has some oversights. Except for slam I think US East (-5) was the furthest timezone we encountered post-group-stage of the 2v2 World Cup and thus also for almost all relevant 1v1 final stages. In this worst case scenario we would have a 13h gap, which would make it hard, but not impossible. Also, after Canada went out games were still played at one-sided timings, see the final which wouldn't have been that hard to schedule with an eight hour gap. I guess my main point is that yes, there will always be someone screwed over by scheduling, but that would matter a lot less if it would be evened out. Fact is its always China/Vietnam/Taiwan getting screwed over to the point where not even a simple impactful concession (19:00->16:00 GMT start) is in the books for them.
