That's the internet. You don't have to be responsible for what you did (most of the time). This is a sad day for competitive AoE.... I love watching Lyx play
I could never understand why some people would just trashtalk and verbally abuses player that viewers watch for free. Even if you donate to them it doesn't mean the player owe you anything.
Plus it's not like any competitive players enjoy losing either, when they are losing they hate it more than viewers do.
If you don't like Lyx or other players, you can always not watch and leave, why intentionally go to someone's stream and be bad to them? I saw posts mentioning there are even trashtalk-bots (seriously, what?)
That just kind of evil to me.
this is a reply, but also some situation seems should be clear:I think he will keep playing. I mean what else would he do? Do we know anything about what he did before and his education?
lol, dude stop talking for other people. Everyone is different and reacts different to criticism and hate.Drama out of nothing. If you are streaming and earning money on it, you are in entertainment business, which means there will be negative comments. If you can't handle it, you better quit. If they are threatining your life, notify local law enforcement. Simple.
Marketing-wise having polarized %50 haters, %50 fans is the optimal position, which means both side will always trigger a discussion to keep your popularity up. This can be achieved by either creating your own enemy (like Michael Jordan did), or naturally. (like Messi vs. Ronaldo, Schumacher vs. Hakkinen etc. etc.).
That's why drama threads in AoeZone are among the busiest, two sides clashes and content is created.
Job is same for everybody, streaming. There are certain skill set for every job, if you are a referee you expect to booed by half of the fans, then it is your mental skills that makes you go on and continue to take right decision without being effected. Same for streaming, there will always be haters if you open that chat box in your stream, it is up to you then how you handle it toxicity and crictism. If you can't, you should quit or remove chat from your stream, simple. I am not gonna behave like a Pollyanna in this case, sorry, he earns money from this job which is compensation of all these struggles. He opened that chat box to visitors, so he needs to learn to manage it.lol, dude stop talking for other people. Everyone is different and reacts different to criticism and hate.
If Lyx decided its best for his health and in general, respect that decision.
Dont talk like he just doesnt know how to handle things
1st of all there is a difference between negative comments, and hateful comments.you are in entertainment business, which means there will be negative comments. If you can't handle it, you better quit. If they are threatining your life, notify local law enforcement. Simple.
Care to share your scientific research on the subject please ?Marketing-wise having polarized %50 haters, %50 fans is the optimal position,

You can find a lot articles on google scholar if you check keywords: consolidation, polarization etc.Care to share your scientific research on the subject please ?
Or quite simply with the added context that @DevC provided the guy is just tired of competitive AOE and the toxicity from the last show match was the tipping point. At the end of the day he is human and is probably weighing up what are the best options for him for the future, and probably does not think/care about drumming up some artificial drama. You can find a lot articles on google scholar if you check keywords: consolidation, polarization etc.
Polarization forces consolidation in opposite ideas, which means people are more devouted, although they are extreme (in our case fans and haters). They will defend more, they will attack more, in the end they will clash more which means more engagements. ( more engagements to send your message other people, to make your content visible for more people etc.).
Latest US elections: Polarization boosted voter turnout. (of course mail balloting also effects, but in case of record vote of Trump, he was against mail balloting but still broke a record while losing)
It was the higher turnout since 60s, and it actually was a jump from %54 to %62.
Turkish elections in 2015 November vs. 2015 in June also another example, it boosted voter turnout a little, but consolidated voter bases so they made more radical choices in just 5 months.
Here is also a good graphic on marketing side: https://visual.ly/community/Infographics/business/power-polarization-marketing
I am not advocating a goodwill here, I am just stating the fact as black-white. Haters are good for popularity. As a streamer, if you can't manage your chatbox, can't manage relation with other people, it is a fact that you are lacking a core skill for this business. Why do you think T90 has more viewers, forest nothing, mother tongue? He has a loyal fan base that will defend him in any case and a group of people on other side who thinks that he is a sellout.
A good streamer in lyx situation would agitate his fanbase so his fanbase will defend him, in the end you create a more strong connection with your fans, more visibility for your business. Haters will watch your content too, just to hate but still it is a win.
Feel free to block and live in your crystal world.
We most certainly do! Lyx, you revolutionised TG and you are amazing. If you see this, please do not retire but ban and get mod to do so. All the best!We love you Lyx
