I member the days when jordan was as good as viper
well said and could be, but I watched the 'promotional interview' for Jordan's channel on Viper's stream, Jordan looked really spent, could be woman/alcohol/drug or only AOE, but he just looked very very tired.Being able to work from home via Twitch, being able to set your own hours, not needing to commute etc. has big lifestyle improvements over a traditional job. If he's been on furlough/working from home recently that might have made him think about those kind of things.
I don't have the time for AOE at the moment (now in my final 2 years of medical school, lots of work ), but I try to catch the occasional twitch stream and it's pretty obvious to me that the scene is currently on the up and people are starting to really feel the benefit of the past decade or so of hard work.
So if Jordan wants to give streaming a real go, now would be the most financially lucrative time to do it, especially with AOE4 potentially putting a damper on the AOE2 scene in the not too distant future. Plus I always got the sense from him in the past that the competition was important and that he felt there was something unfinished with competitive AOE for him, so it might not just be about the money.

the issue with the above is that these numbers are not Accurate.. last time I checked Viper had 2600 subs. And the income mebtioned above is not guaranteed. In 5 years, unless AOE 4 becomes a hit, these streamers may not be around. It sounds like Jordan already has a good career outside of AOE. If you're well thought of in your field, and have a strong network, there is no problem taking a year or two off to pursue something you're passionate about while you're still in your late 20's and early 30's. I know many people who have done it , a couple have been very successful chasing their passion, a couple have returned to their career no worse for the wear.
Jordan is easily the most charismatic AOE player, speaks fantastic English, is very photogenic, and funny as hell. I would expect him to have a lot of success as a streamer. He was absolutely the star of NAC when he was there. For people questioning the financial feasibility of streaming AOE2:
T90official is at 5,559 paid subs, which nets $13,897.50 a month at the base partner rate. He's probably getting a higher percentage, plus donos.
Hera is at 3,014 paid, $7,535 a month plus donos.
I think Viper hit 4000 subs in his first 40 hours streaming back on Twitch. Obviously these are the guys at the top, and they've put in a lot of time and effort to get to those numbers, but I don't see any reason why Jordan wouldn't be able to. Even guys who are streaming 20 hours a week to 400-500 viewers can bring in $1500 a month on subs, which while isn't great, is enough to cover rent most places.
Jordan, if you read this: Congrats! It takes big balls to walk away from something guaranteed and gamble on yourself. I've done it in my own life multiple times, and I can say that win or lose, you won't regret it.

Back to topic ... Seems like his first stream of comeback will be on Tuesday.

Wrong threadviper looked lost.. and its a trend on empire wars. i think the format leveled the playing field a lot of players
Wrong thread
You do realize thatIt’s actually really baffling to me how Jordan hasn’t been able to regain anywhere close to his previous level these last couple of years. He was so damn good... figure if someone like Capoch can come back after so long and achieve top-10 rated it would be a breeze for Jordan but clearly there’s been something seriously off with his gameplay ever since his initial return 2-3 years ago.
Would be amazing for this game if he could somehow regain his old form. He was so incredibly good.
You do realize that
?
- the level right now is higher than it was when the two were at their peak, particularly it is way higher than it was 2005 (Capoch), hence none of them just needs to get to "his previous level", they actually have to clearly exceed their previous level to reach a similar ranking
- Capoch has played 1100+ rated 1v1s since his return 5-6 months ago, so about 200 games per month - a frequency that JorDan has never even been close to since his "initial return"
Jordan has played plenty since his initial return. Lack of games isnt the issue
Wekk Jordan is playing frequently since 1-2 months, Cappoch is tryharding since DE release i think.
Also, while Cappoch was not playing AoE, he was playing Starcraft 2 and other RTS games at a pretty high level. Jordan doesnt play any RTS besides AoE afaik

He still got to like 2k3 level, thats quite good although he has potential to be one of the best. But lets see if he can reach it when he starts to play and stream more often. If I remember well he could do that from the half of September or so?by his “initial return” I meant when he first came back after a long hiatus... don’t remember the year but whenever he started up his stream full time.
Maybe the stream is holding him back.
As mentioned he never even got close to the frequency of Capoch now so I don't know what you are talking about. Also good that you know what is or is not the issue.Jordan has played plenty since his initial return. Lack of games isnt the issue

What are you talking about? Jordan has played with all the WK civs at the time he was "back" during the ECL days. The only civs that are new to him are the Last Khan ones. Not to say that there have been alot of balance changes but it's not like the burmese for example are a completly new civ to him.Interestingly enough, I actually believe his major issue right now is game knowledge!
There are twice as many civs now as there were in 2013 and he just doesn’t yet have a good grasp on the current meta. What to go for with specific civs, best combo units, etc.
In my humble opinion, I think he needs to spend a few hours reading the tech tree and he needs to start picking civs he’s unfamiliar with, to get a good grasp of what works with them and what doesn’t.
Oh yes and watch recs of top 5 players, to see how are they playing those civs.
I get the feeling his mechanics are still pretty good, obviously not (yet) hera-good or lierrey-good, but In my opinion that’s not what’s holding him back.
