The difference is that the potential income in Dota's top level is MUCH higher than in aoe 2 and that the eSport future of aoe is still quite uncertain. So better comparison would be someone that is playing some marginal sport at top level, just earning the money of average daily job, but seeks for potential million dollar paycheck in some major sport where his talent could also fit.dont get that michael jordan one. he wasnt sucessful in highschool. however as soon as he got into a team he was always in the highest leagues even though not the best player? dont get it really. for me it would be more if jordan would be a NFL first pick and playing in NBA 3rd division and says yeah lets play 3rd division nba...
lierrey isnt 12 years he is in his prime esports years. and i just asked if he is already playin in higher leagues and i m not saying he cant do whatever he pleases. just surprised because there is money involved in aoe2
It might be easier to get higher rating with DE's match making because you play against your own level. In voobly, he was only playing only a few matches a week and was losing to the same opponents. With full time commitment, he might fare better this time around. It took for jordan almost a year to get back to 2.3k in his last come back, i do not know but he coming back for 10th time doesn't sound exciting anymore, capoch in the other hand after 2-3 months is 21++ in DE the equal to 2400 in voobly.
You actually did not ask anything, you just made a bunch of statements that were highly speculative about someone else life situation and their motives, and other people made a bunch of similar statements comparing that with an actual example. So if you want answers to a question, you should ask one first.
And in his previous "comeback" he was basically only playing in the morning on occasional weekends and for a couple games after work a few days.It might be easier to get higher rating with DE's match making because you play against your own level. yeah jordan in good shape with nilli is a strong tea.I can't imagine him quitting a job just because of AoE, but can imagine him quitting a job because of several reasons including missing the game, and now spending the time to play while figuring out how to go on later. I'm sure he will clarify when he streams.
Let's see in which shape he will be for King of the Desert 3 - that should be his main focus.
Maybe Nili, Andorin etc. can also convince him to play some games in the AOElympics 4v4 stage. Would love to seem him in the 1v1s too, but every bracket already has a German player.
jordan is a smart guy, so i imagine life circumstances and careful consideration was in play before making this moveI really dont like it. (esp. quitting the job, what the heck is Joadn thinking).
I hope he has seriously thought about this.
Personally I'm happy, will tune in and will also sub, but thats not the point here.
ESports, let alone AOE2DE has no future as a sustainable career. Fine, its working for T90 and Viper, but thats just for the top player. What will these players evolve into?
Its not as if he is streaming until he graduates (like Hera..). Germany is quite an expensive place (unlike Serbia, Norway). No way he can make Euro60k-100k, which he would otherwise get as a Program Manager.
I hope his better senses prevail and gets back to his real JOB.
Until them, Welcome back. I'm going to enjoy your games.
yeah but Viper is not making that much, especially if you exclude tourney wins.I do not want to get too personal (and I cant because I dont know Jordan), but as far as I can tell his job probably did not pay that bad, so I would not assume he does it for money only
99percentile in dota 2? you mean there are still over 10,000 players better than him. Dota has over a million players. He said he's around top 0.5% (like 2k in aoe) but far away from being actually competitive/elite.
unlike norway 11I really dont like it. (esp. quitting the job, what the heck is Joadn thinking).

On another note, I think Jordan is great, but isn't this comeback #3, #4? I wish him all the best, but right now I'm more excited about Larry.
Yeah that is what weirds me out seeing this also, I was 99.5th percentile in league(d1-d2)... Which is miles away from pro play and I would never dream of getting there. Some super gifted people in those games reach 99.99 percentile in even less than a year, and quickly get grabbed by teams. If he is playing Dota for a while, and is still at 99th percentile, he is likely having absolutely 0 chance of making it into pro play, due to sheer size of playerbases there and the high level being insanely high99percentile in dota 2? you mean there are still over 10,000 players better than him. As everyone who has worked several years in a well-paying job will tell you: money is not everything.
A big fat check at the end of the month is not enough to make you happy if you don't truly enjoy what you are doing.
A very good American friend of mine was a fairly successful lawyer in Manhattan, making high 6 figures a year. He hated every second of it and was miserable.
One day he quit his job and started his own business...walking the neighbours' dogs.
Obviously at the beginning he was making 10x less money, but he was happy.
At some point and since he lived in a rich neighborhood where people worked their asses off the whole day, word got out really fast there was this guy who could take care of everyone's dogs when they were out at work. Business eventually grew really fast.
