it was amusing at first but it now just serves to reveal more stupidity from people
"durhrhrhr hera is only good because he grinds a million games, unlike viper and lierrey"
some really dumb stuff tbh
1) lets not act like lierrey and viper especially havent played thousands and thousands of games over the yearsThats actually a very good point (and not dumb).
Lierrey has always been able to shine in every tournament while not really putting a lot of effort into the daily grind (exceptional talent)
Hera apparently needs to grind endless hours to compete with the very best (obviously less talented then)
Honestly for the first paragraph, I’m very surprised you say that, similar to the other topic. I’d ask what makes you say they ‘don’t need’ that or something similar. My point was that Hera needs to play a lot to feel super strong competitor in a tournament. Lierey and Viper dont need that.
I dont care about my boy viper doing aoe2 and aoe4. Bc Being the most talented aoe player ever. Wins red bull, aoe4 first s tier tournament, all while being injured.
Honestly for the first paragraph, I’m very surprised you say that, similar to the other topic. I’d ask what makes you say they ‘don’t need’ that or something similar.
Top players just can’t play much in general (if this is what you mean), not have some serious practice or preparation for tournaments in some way, and then score first place or second. They most definitely do something to feel like they’re in some sort of shape and be in some form. We just don’t know how they prepare, nor are they probably going to deeply share (then competition knows more and they probably don’t want that).
All I can say comparatively, is that Grunt is probably the past version of Liereyy. From what Funito told me a year ago, there was a time when he wouldn’t play the game for months or a whole year. Then he comes around during tournaments and wins it or is in top 3. The way he accomplished that was by practicing super seriously before them.
For more details of that, I came across an old talk from Koven or kkab (forgot who), and they said during tournament time, Grunt practiced like 12 hours a day in his net cafe (he owned one). That doesn’t seem much different than a normal grind to me, it’s all about the hard work. If he didn’t do that, he probably never would’ve gotten into some top 3. Same surely applies to Liereyy and Viper. They have their own “tournament grind” or tournament study, preparation, etc.
For the second paragraph, this is probably where I am walking on thin ice. Viper winning Red Bull and the Aoe4 tournament while being “injured” is painting a false narrative if it is interpreted as a serious injury. It can’t be serious if he can outplay the best players on the face of the Earth and score first place (when games require a lot from your arms to add, wrist in this case).
A reason why I say that is because I have had numerous injuries in various places across various ages in my life. I have sprained my pinkies on both hands, have had my finger caught in a car door where I had to quickly yank it out (hope no one can relate to this), fractured a clavicle, sprained an entire upper arm, nearly broken a toe, and later re-injured that same toe during recovery (which doubled recovery time). What I did during recovery time was play games when I could of course (some foolishly with the intent to improve during recovery) because what’s left to do besides stare at a TV screen or a wall and just heal. And what I learned was that you just can’t push yourself and get better at games if it is truly serious (or win tournaments ahead of the best players for Viper’s case). You’ll be asking for trouble like when Viper had to take a few months break to recover because he pushed himself too much if I recall that correctly. If you can push yourself, the injury isn’t all that bad. I mean all that with no disrespect, and don’t mind apologizing to Viper if I crossed some line. If anything, it’s a very good sign because it means he has healed well if he can win those tournaments.
Don’t like copying/pasting things (since it has been used annoyingly before on here), but my second paragraph answers that actually.you are missing the point. You are trying to say every top player is basically the same and needs huge amount of playing/practice which is not the case.
outstanding talents like Viper and Lierrey will effortlessly destroy opponents without Full time grind
Bottom line: everyone is not the same in terms of being gifted/talented
do u actually think that is a good analogy? lulAnd if yes, isn’t that like saying they don’t need to turn on the stove to cook a meal because they’re uniquely gifted?
Isn’t that what has been implied by three people however? That one thing wasn’t a real requirement for another in reference to two great players? Where’s it incorrect or not good?do u actually think that is a good analogy? lul
the point was understood. it just doesn't paint a full picture and doesn't necessarily reflect the situation truthfully. You guys totally missed the point of my comment about Hera grinding more.
Yes even the most talented person needs to work hard to be the #1 at something. We all know that. I didnt say lierey or viper didnt played a ton of games to get to their level.
My point was that Hera needs to play a lot to feel super strong competitor in a tournament. Lierey and Viper dont need that. So now that hera is split between aoe2, aoe4 and streaming he wont be #1 o top 3 in those games.
I dont care about my boy viper doing aoe2 and aoe4. Bc Being the most talented aoe player ever. Wins red bull, aoe4 first s tier tournament, all while being injured.
Amount of hours Viper has put in the game is definetely higher than all players mentioned here.I'm only speaking for myself but it seems to me that Hera is actually the most impressive player around. He and Kasva maybe. They showcase that you can work hard at something, a game in this case, and become incredibly good at it. Lierreyyyyy, on the other hand, is an enigma, and lately viper as well, where they seem to be very competitive even with 1/10th the effort. Simply look at the number of games each of these players played in the last year and you'll understand @Rayne
To me, the cases of lierreyyyyy in particular, and it seems grunt, are less interesting because they just are so fast and quick thinking / strategical that they don't need much practice. Therefore they are able to "effortlessly" win. Whereas Hera, say, seems to need to put in effort on a few parts of his gameplay, which I respect quite a bit. I respect it a lot because I'm fairly similar to him in that regard!
Even so, in the last year he played a lot less than the others except lierreyyyyyAmount of hours Viper has put in the game is definetely higher than all players mentioned here.
At some point someone does not need to engage in an activity frequently to maintain their skill at it.Even so, in the last year he played a lot less than the others except lierreyyyyy
