Isn't it just that Halbs only get +18 attack vs Elite Cataphract instead of +32 vs mounted units (and only +16 vs Camels?)
Similarly: Heavy Camels only get +9 vs Catas instead of +18 vs mounted units (+16 vs mameluks).
Elite Cataphracts have an hidden armor value vs. units that have a specific bonus against mounted units. These include pikes, halbs, camels, and mamelukes. The magic number is 16. If a unit has any less than +16 against horses, it will be negated completely. If it does, it will simply be the difference between those two numbers. For example, pikes get +6 instead of the usual +22, Halbs are +16 instead of +32, castle age Camels no bonus since they only have +10, and Heavy Camel a mere +2 since their usual bonus is +18. Interestingly, the most powerful anti-cavalry unit, the mameluke, has no bonus vs ECats whatsoever due to their bonus of 9/12. I guess it's to make sure the expensive Cataphract lives long enough to kill infantry like halbs and not die to counters that easily since Byz lack bloodlines and blast furnace. Someone correct me if I'm wrong lol. Oh, and spearmen have 0 bonus since their usual +15 is completely blocked. So don't get any funny ideas if you're a Turks vs. a Byz spamming Ecats in post imp.
1.After Logistica,Ecatas do 5 trample damage that hits all units within meele range for 5 damage irrespective of that units' armor upgrades/base armor.Basically, its like siege damage.
2.This means that catas can kill some units they wouldn't normally killed if you group them up.They still can't win vs equal no. of palas but they can win vs slightly lesser no.s than their own.
3.Logistica also gives catas 6 bonus damage vs infantry which is not added with the trample damage.
4.One vs one, they kill all infantry(even FU ETKs).
5.They are the 2nd most expensive to upgrade unit(if I remember correctly) in the game after war elephants.
