After a brief pause we are back with another interview and this time Viper is in the spotlight. Viper has risen to stardom very recently but has already achieved a great deal in the AoC world. Having played alongside Jordan, RiuT and Dogao in WCL 7 and now having been accepted into TyRanT only seems to be the beginning of his auspicious AoC career.
Let us see what Viper has to say: [READMORELINKDOTS]
Interviewer: Hello Viper, It's an enormous honour that you are with us for this interview.
Interviewer: Before we start, would you like to say anything?
TheViper: Hi, thanks for interviewing me! Hmm, not really, just disappointed not being interviewed before that nooby Jordan
Interviewer: 11 Sorry ! Well so I saw in another interview that you didn't say your real life name. But could we have the pleasure to have atleast your first name?
TheViper: Yeah, I don't mind anymore ^^ It's Ørjan Larsen!
Interviewer: Good. Tell us about your real life.
TheViper: Okay, I live in a small town in Norway with about 3000 inhabitants and work at the Gym here, helping customers with whatever they might need. Still live home with my parents. I use my spare time on playing games and doingsports. Most of my friends have moved away from our small town now, so I only get to see them weekends now or so. So that's a shame, but it gives me more spare time though. No gf, don't want one at this stage of life ^^
Interviewer: Muscles man $: !. How long have you played AoC ?
TheViper: Hehe, not that much of a muscleman I must admit 11. I've played aoc for about 2 years soon.
Interviewer: Most of top players have played AoC for 10 years or so or at least since their childhood but tell me how have you progressed that fast?
TheViper: Hmm.. I really have no clue.. It's probably natural talent I guess. I tried out the game when my dad was active many years ago, but didn't play for real then, so I kind of knew the basics. What I did was basically just playing a lot of games, adapting fast and learning the game 100% like that. I watched expert records to learn building orders, and worked my way from there. Also something that helped me a lot was watching my own records of my losses to see how I actually lost, what I did wrong, what was the losing decision.etc. If you become aware of that, you won't do it the next time.
Interviewer: We all know that your father's running Aoczone.net, did he give you some tips when you were starting?
TheViper: Can't remember that far back, but he probably did of course. But I think everyone should know what kind of a cheater he was! I remember him pulling the plug once he was losing!
Interviewer: Have you ever tried to train your dad to get pass his 1640 rating?
TheViper: 111, I've been encouraging him to start playing some games with me, but he says he's scared to get addicted again ^^ since it can take much of your time.
Interviewer: haha clever man
TheViper: When I started recently I knew the basics, so nothing he could advice me on. Even though he taught me what LL means!
Interviewer: Did you have any favourite expert player in your start?
TheViper: In my start Athena was my favourite. I only played LN for quite long, and he was really good at it. Not to mention he was very good at other maps too, and I wasn't that much into the community to watch and know that much about Daut, Chris, Riut and so on. On top of it all, he was a very nice and likeable guy! That is when I started off about 2 years ago.
Interviewer: We all have a favourite, Do you think you are part of the new generation of AoC players?
TheViper: It's of course very motivating to hear things like that. I still have a lot of things I need to improve in order to be the best, but hopefully someday I will get there . Of course it is one of my goals with aoc.
Interviewer: What do you think about the organization of the last WCL 7 ?
TheViper: All credits to the admins of the tournament, I think there was a lot of unnecessary 'drama'. It lasted so long, and is still not over though, so I wish there would be more strict limits for the scheduling for the upcoming tournaments. Besides that WCL7 was a real joy to participate in.
Interviewer: Did you enjoy playing with RVK?
TheViper: I had the best moments of my aoc career there. We had so much fun talking on skype and training. I'm so happy I got invited and got to know RiuT, dog and Jordan. They're all really great persons and I'm really gonna miss playing with them. We got 2nd, we are happy about that, but we were of course hoping to win! You all gotta just imagine dog raging to other at his place in brazilian "DE PxxA PxxA PxxA" always and then Riut burst out in laugther because he understands portuguese, with me and Jordan following up the laugh ^.^ Was so great! 11
Interviewer: How did you decide in rvk what part everyone was going to play for the WCL tourney. Like who was going to do what maps ect.. for team and solo games?
TheViper: Well, at start I was supposed to be nr 4 and backup when I joined. But I took huge steps as WCL came along and we ended up just sitting discussing and having everyone saying each of their opinion on who to play what, in the end we agreed.
Interviewer: did you do a lot of 1v1's to find out what everyone's weakness and strong points were?
TheViper: We did practice some 1v1s with different strats to see how to counter stuff etc. But we were quite sure from the start that I would do Arena, and Riut arabia and Jordan/Dog Conti. But as it progressed, we found out riuts style fitted continental more than jordans, so they switched.
Interviewer: Seems like you enjoyed hanging with RVK. But how came the decision to leave RVK and 3 days later join Tyrant
TheViper: Well, when I joined RVK, it was basically just to be able to play WCL with Riut, Dog and Jordan. I told them when I joined that it was only for wcl, then I was back to BuzZ to play for fun. Never really had the 'clan' feeling in RVK, as most were brazilian, I was only talking to like 10% of the clan. And as WCL progressed I started chatting with kkab, and he told me that tyrant might be interested. So I just kept my cards open, and as the new tournament got announced, playing with Daut and also Jordan was impossible to resist. I love playing with my BuzZ friends, and I will in AoCliga and such, but for big money tournaments, tyrants is the better choice for me.
Interviewer: Tell us about a normal day on TyranT, you guys always improve new strategis and discuss building orders and stuff like that?
TheViper: WCL isn't over yet, nor the Dream Team match, so we haven't really got together to discuss how we're gonna do it from now on, so really impossible to say. But I believe there will be loads of practice and loads of fun!
Interviewer: We want loads of recordings too please 11. For many players you're the best one in water maps. Could you tell us your secret ?
TheViper: Hmm.. I really have no idea.. 11 I still believe dog to be the best overall water player, but I might be better on pure/fast grushing or pure 1v1 water, but dog is definately incredibly strong on TG water as with 1v1. I think I'm good at making my vills effective and balancing my economy towards what I want to do. That might be my strongest point at water, maybe picking fights too.
Interviewer: Since you and Jordan have joined Tyrant it will be hard to find competition to Tyrant atleast in 4v4 matches. Dont you think so?
TheViper: Hmm.. Far from. There are so many great players out there. I think many people are thinking that since Me/Daut/Jordan are quite good at 1v1, we'll probably 'roll' TGs too. But TG is completely different from 1v1, and there are so many great TG players out there that can form really strong teams. So I'm not scared that there won't be competition.
Interviewer: About the top ladder in the rating system do you think voobly should deduct points from top score players who don't play on those accounts?
TheViper: Yeah I do. I feel that the top 10 list at the moment doesn't show who's the best. f. ex Alive got his 2k6 nick that he can sit on there, while barely playing. Same with Tim. They're not using their main nicks and can sit on the top 10 list not playing. Chris and Daut have proven they belong there by creating new nicks and getting there, but Alive and Tim haven't. Still hope they will create a decay system so the rates can be more competetive for the top rates.
Interviewer: How many accounts did you have before Theviper?
TheViper: BuzZ_TheViper was my first account. And I've only added some other TheVipers after it, but I used TheViper from the start
Interviewer: Would you share your start in AoC with us, tell us about those momments when you were a noobie.
TheViper: Well, I remember the first month I played I didn't think the wood upgs and farm ugps were important... I would start doing them late in imp if I had a lot of resources.. 11
Interviewer: Were you ever rushed in a funny way?
TheViper: hmm, no not really.. I never felt like a huge noob. I was never the worst in the games I played ever since my start, and I always stuck around people at my own rating, so was never that far behind to be able to be made a fool out of, but can't remember any particular SPECIAL ways of being rushed..
Interviewer: What strategy do you hate the most against you? haha you know everyone will be doing that from now on!
TheViper: Hmm.. I hate being landed on water maps, that's for sure (fu jordan). I can't sleep for weeks now because I got nightmares of Jordan archers in my wood on water maps
Interviewer: We're getting near the end is there anything you would like to say to our readers and your followers?
