Hi,
I used to be a 1500- player. I have consistently beaten 1500 players before but always had trouble against anyone higher than 1550. I hadn't played in a long time. Watched some daut youtube videos in last few months and played around 10 to 20 games and it feels that aoc noob level has decreased drastically. I quickly reached 1700 and struggling to find 1650 opponents I can lose to. I even came close to beating 1800 players few times but due to lack of experience I threw them away.
Also, keep in mind that because I'm not comfortable with my rating, I only play games vs opponents who are higher rated than me because I want to lose points.
So, if you are a 1500 noob and want to quickly get to 1650 to 1750 levels, just watch a few daut games on youtube or twitch. He talks about map, strategies, controlling important parts of the map and resources, reading opponent moves, booming while you are pressured, etc. And they are very helpful. You won't even realize before you are up by 150 points
I play arabia only but I watch other maps of daut also. One of the most important things is knowing what the opponent is doing and controlling sections of the map. I think most of my opponents lose because they do not know what I will do next or where I will raid, etc.
Even though I don't play, I have enjoyed youtube/twitch videos always. At first I used to watch viper's videos. His game style is fun but daut's game style gives huge insights into how to play this game. And he is not slow or bad at micro when compared to any 2.2k player (although slower than 2.5k from general consensus).
Many thanks to daut for giving insights during his gameplays.
