So I started out at 950 elo and got to 1350 in 200 games.
But I've been stuck at 13xx for the last 250 games.I feel like I'm not progressing at all and it's quite depressing.
In the area where I play and at my elo, everybody seems to pick s tier civs all the time.About 1/10 games are below a tier civs.Meanwhile I go random, because the top players do.
What ends up happening is that when I random a s/a tier civ or a b tier civ which is straightforward to play,I end up winning. When I random bad civs against s tier civs,I feel like I try my best, but I'm at the elo where you can't kill players just with early rushes and even if you do a ton of damage, the gap between civs is just too high to make up for.
Now I don't lose those matchups everytime, but it just feels terrible to try your best and still lose because of civ disadvantage.
This is leading to me tilting and playing badly as soon as I see a civ disadvantage on the loading screen and I'm not even able to understand what I'm doing wrong and why I lost in these matchups. All I see is "well this guy was khmer and he got to castle age quicker despite me winning the scout war with less investment, and killed me with a 1tc push, nothing I couldve done.
So what should I do? Continue going random and suck it up, trying to get better until I can beat players of my elo in unfavorable matchups or start choosing civs?
I really need some help, because I am completely unable to understand if I'm improving as it feels like my games are going exactly according to the civ matchup on paper
